  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: I Wasn't Able To Do My Best Against Ryder Because I Was Still Rehabbing Injury

LAS VEGAS - Canelo Alvarez is completely confident that he will perform much better Saturday night, even against an undoubtedly better opponent than John Ryder. Unlike the entire time he spent preparing to battle England's Ryder on May 6, Alvarez has had full use of his left hand

So he didn’t do well against Bivol and Ggg because of the injury and now he didn’t do well against Ryder because he was rehabbing the injury. Ok, let’s see what happens tomorrow captain excuses. He has no reason not to look impressive if he’s healed, says he had the best training camp ever, is fighting someone two weight classes below him who himself had an injury and hasn’t fought in 14 months.

He's been hitting the bag/mitts just the same for the past 2 or 3 camps; if it was that bad, why would you continue to damage it? Sounds like he knows he's slowing down but can't admit it.

Everyone always says they have had the best camp ever. What else are they going to say? There's no upside in revealing any snags they had in camp.

Don't know how much I believe of what Canelo is saying, but there's probably an element of truth in his training camp for Ryder being somewhat impacted by the aftermath of the surgery.

I think Ryder was just resilient. Probably is able to take more damage than Charlo. Tomorrow everything will be answer.

          Can't wait for the excuses.

I think Canelo is lying to himself, which seem very common to fighters after the peak years of their career are in the rear view.

Most athletes, really. It's a bitter pill.

Sounds like Eddie was making him some of his SPECIAL sandwiches with SECRET sauce during camp, but I don't think its going to matter.

Excuses, even if he beats or knocks out Charlo which he probably will as the size difference is huge, it won’t mean a damn thing for the Bivol fight. Bivol completely outclassed him

He has done better than most een if not winning impressively, dummy. You are the typical Canelo hater. There is no boxer that has his resume right now.
