I think it's sensible for JJ to retire now relatively healthy or consider to fight only soft punchers because the damage all blows he has been absorbing with his face is beginning to manifest in his speech.

When a guy brags about his hard head, why press on after getting it tenderized? Joe can't box and he gots no bomb. He uses his size and he was as big as he could get. What are his options? Besides the C class and low pay?

Brain damage is cumulative & irreversible so if he is beginning to slur he shouldn't fight anyone again. I don't think there are any 'soft' punchers that couldn't cause damage bearing in mind their size & the way JJ gets caught so cleanly. Although he hasn't had many Pro fights he has already absorbed a hell of a lot of punishment & fighting on, now he can't even rely on his chin, would be extremely foolhardy.

Joyce has yes lost two fights back to back 'But those two fights, were the highest level Heavyweight fights since Wilder vs Fury III & Joshua vs Usyk II'.
Joshua may well have the ability to still beat 90-95% of the fighters in the game.
Note: Maybe Fury would of lost last night to Zhang, maybe Fury would of lost already if he actually fought top level boxers '90% of Fury's reputation is built up off beating Deontay Wilder'.
Fury reputation is in my opinion, not built up off beating Kiltschko 7 - 8 years ago 'Mega win in terms of historical magnitude, but he did not beat Kiltschko up or knock him out. 17 months after Fury vs Kiltschko, it was Anthony Joshua who beat Kiltschko up and knocked him out 'In the greatest Heavyweight title fight of the past 25 years' etc.
I think Joyce has been burnt out since beating Parker 'The damage he sustain in that fight due to Parker whacking him beat time was underrated'. Joyce skill for skill may have just come up against a fighter who was strong, and also could punch with too much power etc.

I think Joyce has been burnt out since the Parker fight, that fight was a pivotal moment in his career 'The damage he sustained in that fight was overlooked and underrated'.
Parker vs Joyce II is a big fight, and I think Parker would be game for that.
Joyce still may be in a position where, many Heavyweights still don't want to fight him 'Not just yet'. Zhang's power is top level, so? If you cannot take Joyce out of the fight or hurt him 'Do other Heavyweights really need to fight him?'.
If Joyce would of lost this rematch, but was competitive over 12 rounds 'Then I don't really think many people would be calling for him to retire'.
Joshua & Wilder for example have never lost any fight, in the manner that Joyce was beaten by Zhang last night.
Joshua was stopped on his feet vs Ruiz I, with a smile on his face 'And Wilder was also stopped on his feet, while still fighting back vs Fury II' etc.

So what point are you trying to make? Styles make fights mate.
And also? Usyk beat one of the last versions of Chisora who actually trained to win.
The Chisora who Fury has just fought, was semi-retired 'And really not training to win. Chisora since his lost to Parker, was training to push his opponents in a tough fight.
Chisora's brand WarChisora was not catered around him being this serial winner 'People would turn up to see him push his opponents, get whacked and sing afew song's' etc.

Parker has shown that there is a way to get back. Drop back a couple of levels, Fight frequently, win and pick up some belts. Has Joyce got the time and desire to do that? Not sure Warren cares too much either, his focus is obviously Fury but he has Adeleye, Moses and maybe Wardley now too.

Just stating a fact. Did Chisora not give Usyk all he could handle? .Yeh the fight with Fury was a cash grab, but this semi retired lark, he's not retired!, maybe not at his Klitschko best....retired, semi....No. War.
Well this was more so a trait of Chisora's after David Haye beat him 'Technique gets worst as the rounds go by'.
It was a tough fight for Uysk, and a good performance by Chisora.
Maybe a peak Chisora would of won, because at that time of Usyk's career at Heavyweight 'He was clearly adjusting to the weight class'.
Still mate, Chisora had been beaten twice back to back by Parker before fighting Fury.
Pulev was semi-retired, fighting in exhibition type fights 'And even that fight was a super close fight for Chisora. Both fighters were semi-retired' etc.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 09-24-2023, 03:21 PM.
