Morrel is absolutely right. he doesn`t have many pro fights, but he is top 10 by the Ring at 168.

So now should I pretend like Canelo fighting 154 Charlo is some big deal. Only id.iotic casuals think so.

Canelo has fought way more dangerous opponents than Morrell has.

True. But with the caveat that they were 'somewhat dangerous'

I think Morrell is saying he's avoiding the dangerous opponents in his own division - him and Benavidez.

This is a repetitive theme with Canelo - protect his resume at all costs. He fought at 155lbs from March 2014 until May 2016.

By doing that he avoided the most dangerous fighters at 154 who imo were the Charlo twins and Andrade - and he also avoided a prime Golovkin until he looked vulnerable against Brook and Jacobs. - Sep 2016 and March 2017

He did clean out 168 but not against a death row of opponents. Now there are two mortal threats he won't defend his belts - nor at 168 against Bivol who offered to come down.

At 175 he took a calculated risk against Kovalev who by that time had lost three times and looked vulnerable. Bivol looked rank average against Craig Richards - he got hit plenty. So I think that was a cherry pick gone wrong.

All in all Canelo plays the A side mega star very well. He has to avoid losing all his belts and being face down on the canvas - neither will sit well with all the casual fans, especially the Mexicans. So his matchmaking has for the most part been brilliant - if his team look back on it they probably wish they waited a bit before fighting Golovkin the first time, had avoided bivol altogether and that would be it - not bad over a 61 fight career.

Canelo fought Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara when he didn’t have to. He just fought Bivol a few fights back at a weight he doesn’t belong at… but instead of giving him full credit people want to actually use this against him by saying it was just “a cherrypick gone wrong.”

David Morrell was barking about David Benavidez at one point but when Benavidez called his bluff Morrell’s trainer said he wasn’t ready yet. Let’s hold everyone to the same standards.

How is he gonna prove himself? How are the benavidez, anderades and other contenders are supposed to prove themselves? Especially since the moment one loses, you guys shame them and the promoters shelf them, which makes contenders fighting each other career suicide for the loser?

              definitely true

canelo talks a good game , but matchmakes carefully

avoided benavidez, beterbiev, who are punchers , now wants to fight only smaller guys, crawford, charlo bros

Dumbasses forgetting he fought GGG when he did.

This bum is 25 years old and with what 9 fights? Canelo at 25 had fought Gayweather, Lara and Trout. What has this bum done? At 26 Canelo fought GGG. Is this bum going to fight someone like that next year? When’s his next fight?

Idk what is considered dangerous anymore. It’s just silly at this point. This man’s trainer didn’t even allow him to fight Benavidez because Benavidez was too dangerous for the young pup. He’s been barking non stop with his single digit amount of fights and no big wins.

well done leading the charge for the emotional canelo fem boys club. Now all of what you’re saying is irrelevant. Is what morrell is saying true or false? I think we all know it’s true. It’s just that some of you are in denial. Sort of like that female whose man is cheating on her and she has proof but is still like , nahhh, he would never. Step into reality, it’ll be better for you.
