I just don't understand how someone who isn't ranked in the Top 10 is eligible to fight for a vacant world title.
That's the whining part. Who was going to fight Shakur at short notice? None of the top guys wanted to fight him with a full camp. No one in the top 10 had any intention of fighting Shakur on short notice. Would it have been better if he didn't have a fight at all?

Ok that's fine but that has no bearing on the question as to why a guy outside the top 10 is fighting for a vacant title.

You people must be totally brain dead or have nothing else to do but make ridiculous complaints about nothing. Who was going to come in on short notice and take on Shakur who would've been close to a 50/50 matchup? The only boxers at 135 who would be considered a possible threat to Shakur are Tank and possibly Haney. Haney is fighting at 140 and Tank isn't interested in fighting Shakur right now. What's your solution genius?

Way too visceral a response. Relax.

Exactly. Dude is probably a racist who doesn't like hearing black people who have confidence in their ability. Shakur is maturing and has shown more intelligence in recent interviews. For a young man, he has displayed knowledge and respect for the sport. Although he thinks he's the best at the weight, he takes the toughest tests seriously and knows he needs to train hard and stay motivated to prove he's the top dog.

Why were you offended? There was no vitriol in my response. It's just a statement of fact. If you interpreted it that way that's on you. There's nothing visceral about what I said. I merely alluded to the ridiculous nature of your post.

You're kidding right? Anybody with half a brain should be able to figure it out. It's quite simple. Nobody in the top 10 wanted to fight him and De Los Santos was the most credible opponent who would agree to fight him. Do you understand that?

                  No, I'm not kidding.

If that's the case, which I don't disagree with, then don't fight for the title.

Yeah, I don't want to make assumptions but I'm hyper aware of wording and phrasing that people use to disguise their feelings. Dog whistles etc.

Shakur lives boxing. Every person that he's been around says he is always in the gym and looking to get better and that should be applauded, especially in this era where fighters want to do everything except fight.
