Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Trainer Malik Scott on Snags in Joshua Fight Talks: 'It's a Real Frustrating Situation'

Trainer Malik Scott isn't too pleased by the scuttlebutt concerning his top charge, former heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder. Earlier this week, promoter Eddie Hearn seemingly pumped the brakes on a potential fight in Saudi Arabia early next year

Probably some princes fighting over control of the sports portfolio. It is worth billions, so I'm sure there's plenty of jostling and spoiling till they get in position...

Just make the fight in the UK. It sells out Wembley. Or Vegas. It won't be the same money as the Saudis were talking about but it'll still be a lot. Stop being so greedy.

          The fight won’t happen.

Didn’t Hearn say they don’t want Fury in September because Wilder is locked in for December?

I think it will happen. Both guys have nothing else to do. they are both the biggest fight for each other.

For the last gosh darn time, Hearn doesn’t really want the fight and never did. That’s why it hasn’t happened. Unless Aj tells Hearn to make the fight we might not see it, though I’m still holding out hope.

What are these two's options? Wilder could fight Usyk, I guess, and Joshua, Fury, but I thought the calculation was to go all in on Wilder first and make the Fury fight even bigger if successful. The Fury fight could still be made even if Joshua lost, but a win would give him more leverage and set up an even stronger narrative to sell the Wembley super fight.

Thanks for sharing. Had no clue this was going on. I always thought the holdup was the they’re only interested in Joshua-wilder if it’s attached to fury-usyk.
