Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez Designated By WBO As 'Super Champion'

Teofimo Lopez has now gone from retirement to reinstated champ to upgraded championship status all in the span of three months. The two-division and reigning lineal and WBO junior welterweight champion was approved for 'Super Champion' status by the WBO. The 24-person committee unanimously voted in favor of the designation request filed by Top Rank on behalf of Lopez (19-1, 13KOs)

Would love to see Crawford vs Lopez though I favor Crawford.I thought Lopez would lose to Loma and Taylor, if he goes up and beats the top WW that would be insane. 3 Top guys in 3 divisions.

WBO “regular” champ in 3…2….1…. Of course, they get a cut of both the super and regular champ purses, which is the actual real reason behind this bs.

Teo asking WBO for super protection was a biatch move.
And WBO granting it is a nice example of corruption.
Btw, sanctioning fees have nothing to do with it. Only the uneducated and naive always think it's about sanctioning fees.

This is the type of silly BS that cost Teo & Lomachenko an actually undisputed, undisputed fight in the first place. Enough already smh.

WBO super champion means you are granted a status and is able to move up in weight for a WBO title like Lomachenko fought for a vacant WBO super featherweight title after being WBO featherweight champion. That's why Demetrius Andrade couldn't move up to 168 and be the mandatory even though he was the WBO middleweight champion because he didn't hold the WBO super champion status which is not a belt.

C'mon man, there's no way in hell two beats Crawford. Teo lost to Sandor Martin FFS, and kambosos, Crawford would knock him out quick smart

more manufactured garbage to make deals at latter dates that really have nothing to do with anything such as what is happening in the ring. it is what happens in the ring that matters not what deals the bodies make.

If he sticks to BOXING (like the Taylor fight) instead of trying to take his opponents head off he’ll be very tough to beat. From a pure TALENT perspective, I have him joint 2nd with Tank behind Shakur and Haney 3rd.
