But you MUST support you candidate!! You Must.
I couldn't have forgotten one of the worst takes I have ever read on here.

Fair play to you for being a good sport though.

There's no money in that, and no glory either.
Everybody remembers Mike Tyson Evander Holyfield, George Foreman.
Who remembers Marco Ruas, Mark Coleman or Ricco Rodriguez??? Who?
      No glory. No money.
Yeah sure, what glory could there possibly be in beating a UFC champion in MMA as opposed to beating them in boxing lol. And of course what money could there be either, because obviously the money these Saudis offer would change based on the fight being MMA rules instead of boxing rules. Clearly pales in comparison to the money Fury could make from fighting Otto Wallin.

I wonder why you're listing 3 of the biggest boxing stars of all time, and then comparing them to three guys from the early years of the UFC, and not even the biggest ones at that, as opposed to say comparing the stars from both over the last 20 years or so. Now ask yourself why Holyfield wasnt randomly boxing Mark Coleman in the 90s but Fury is about to box Ngannou.

I mean, you've just put a list there that contains probably close to 10 current names he hasnt fought who if he beat them would be in his top 3-5 best career wins......

Yes, and the very restricted rules also means that the competitors train for a limited (but very refined) skillset that leaves them one dimensional and with a ton of holes in their game once they fight outside of boxing rules.

Why does it even matter? For one thing, that aspect was all thoroughly acknowledged and framed in my opening post to every extent it deserves. Both are fight sports, one with more open rules, allowing kickers and grapplers a means of cashing in on those skills, albeit a meager one; but neither one is actually a real fight at all, as restrictions on some commonly used techniques allow grappling to operate in MMA with an impunity that ABSOLUTELY doesn't exist on "the street".

Of couse, a toolkit containging 12 tools implies a more handy technician vs. A technician carrying only 5 tools...IF the technician with 12 is as good as the tech with lighter toolkit. Nobody disputes that. Who could?

But any talk about Boxing being "just a sport" and MMGay being "A REAL" fight, is pure nuthuggery, and is immedialy reprogramed out of candidates in the United States special forces training program, as self evidently you cannot rule the world if your finest combat belligerents are found cracking open their legs going into the guard position on the field of battle, as though visiting a gynecologist.

Secondly; anyone going after My gonads on the streets or in the field is sure having a length of 1095 Cro-van steel across their throat immediately, faster than you can say Joe Son.

Because in my old fashioned mind, there is a CLEAN FIGHT (Boxing) and a DIRTY FIGHT (My KA-BAR); and anything half way in-between is just something to keep Wrestlers from having to coach High School 2 months a year. And nothing more.

Lol.....Dude, I'm only kidding here (in between educating through obvious common sense).

Remember too: In an offensive or defensive altercation within public spaces......
You Hit hard, fast, accurately, drop em and walk.....ALWAYS & whenever possible during an altercation.
Boxing's limited scope covers that Far Far better than anything.

          But of course....
That certainly doesn't mean that wrestling, submission grappling, sweeps, takedowns, throws, high & low kicks, headbutting, Knees, elbows, eye gouging and other assorted goodies (some legel in MMA, some not) aren't just as necessary to perfect in your training, if becomming a serial unarmed fighter is you goal.

These things needn't even be said.

Anyway, I'm eager to see how Ngannou can fight in the big money leagues, deprived of the shortcut techniques.

I agree. Ive always said that if someone wants to learn "self defence" for the street the best thing (other than non physical stuff like threat awareness/avoidance etc) is boxing perhaps supplemented with a bit of judo in case the boxing part goes wrong and distance is closed, because judo specialises in explosive finisher sweeps/throws rather than spending a longer time engaged in the clinch or whatever like in wrestling and BJJ. Obviously if you only need to punch someone in the face to win, theres no need for plan B or C and trying to kick or wrestle on the street is not a desirable option if you can avoid it.

              Great post.

And I hope you'll forgive my BS. It's just a guilty pleasure. We all do it from time to time.
