Comments Thread For: Regis Prograis-Devin Haney WBC Junior Welterweight Title Fight Targeted For December

A second straight hometown headliner could be in store for Devin Haney. The reigning lineal and unified lightweight champion has teased the Bay Area as a potential landing spot for his targeted challenge of WBC junior welterweight titlist Regis Prograis. The terrific matchup has been in discussion for several months, since both posted decision wins in separate bouts earlier this year.

So the champ is fighting at the challengers hometown? I'd understand if the challenger brought a ton of money and asses to seats but hankey can't draw flies to shlt. Guess prograis is just selling the belt

This should be a very revealing fight! Can Haney take a 140 pounder punch? Can Prograis cut the ring down and neutralize Haney's jab? Haney is getting his man strength and this could be a coming out party for him, or it could be a tough fight, and finally? It could be a disaster if Prograis smells blood in dat Bayou Wadaa! bwahaaaa.

I am a big fan of Prograis and I like Haney. To me the fight will be won by the guy willing to take more risks and assert themselves over the other guy. Im going with Prograis on this one.

Regis seemed to hate his hometown fight last time out & was out giving away tickets the week of the fight in some video that got posted somewhere that I recall seeing. Devin ain't a superstar or anything himself obv, but he's drawing more fans than Regis & I think Regis feels better as the away dog then the hometown guy based on what he said after his last fight.

Haney for me...Prograis didn't look too good in his last outing whereas Devin's on a roll after dominating Kambosos twice and edging Lomachenko (I thought Haney won by a round or two despite popular opinion).

Good test for Haney. Because he's a defense-first boxer, he could take the decison. Prograis has to catch him good and finish him to win.

Haney jab has been almost a non factor against the last two southpaws he has fought, I don't see Regis have any issues getting past it.

Haney should win this one, prograis is hot and cold and can look subpar at times. On another note, not sure why this is PPV..I suppose both fighters are demanding big money. Looks like more fiscal losses for dazn

It was targeted for October 28 as well.

Will believe when I see it.

Dan Rafael said earlier on that one of the fighters didn't know it was gonna be a PPV. Being that Regis signed first & is with Eddie/DAZN already I assumed it was Devin that didn't know this was gonna be done as a PPV which probably led to the whole drama over the initial Oct 28 date issue with another PPV/Guarantee $$$/PPV cuts. So my assumption was this was a DAZN call & being that every decent fight with a name is a PPV on DAZN rn its not surprising ig.
