Sweet Pea was for me one of two best fighters of the last 30 years alongside RJJ. Both of them at their best were almost unbeatable and unlike slightly more modern greats they didn't feel the need to duck their biggest challenges. Add the well deserved win he absolutely should have got against JCC and then look at that record and you are looking at a 24 carat ATG. I have huge respect for both Pac and Floyd but Sweet Pea would have boxed both their ears off and anyone else at that weight for many decades.

Whitaker wins every time he was just slightly better in every department and is one of the only fighters who could have stood in front of Floyd and he couldnt be hit without taking 2 back. Sweet Pea was something very special and belongs in the very top tier of ATGs sadly longterm he will not get the credit he deserves because he didn't make headlines and fought with a style that was almost unbeatable without being massively exciting to those that want to see blood and guts.
its an absolute disgrace he was robbed of the JCC win which would have helped cement him alongside Robinson, Greb, Armstrong and Leonard as one of the top tier greats.

Ignoring sparring makes you a mark, not a fan. It’s not about wins and losses, even hanging with Pernell is notable.

        You’re arguing over nothing, brother.
        You are correct, my apologies.

        I never ignored sparring doe.

Why does Paul Spadafora come to mind with sparring?

Did you get to work with him?

          - - Pea oozed talent, but mentally a clown instead of fighter.

Most judges don’t award clown points
