  • Comments Thread For: Berlanga: Still In Discussions With Matchroom About Munguia Fight; Need All Financial Details

Edgar Berlanga is still willing to fight Jaime Munguia next. The unbeaten Berlanga just wants to make sure that he will be paid appropriately for what on paper would be the most difficult fight of the super middleweight contender's seven-year professional career. Berlanga denied during an interview with BoxingScene.com on Thursday that he has turned down the seemingly fan friendly Munguia match, which DAZN executives have pushed promoters Eddie Hearn (Berlanga) and Oscar De La Hoya (Munguia) to make for the ******ing service's subscribers.

I'd be surprised if Berlanga lasts more than 6 rounds against Munguia tbh

Munguia is far more developed than Berlanga. I'm of thinking that it's an easier night for Jamie than he had against SD. Berlanga wants to make sure his 0 is well paid for.

I feel like Berlanga signed with Eddie to cashout vs Canelo & that went massively sideways when Canelo did the 3 fight PBC deal. Now I think he's probably wanting to make any big name threatening opp, like Munguia, a cashout fight. And I mean he's a guy who looks like someone who has a lot of threatening opps out there cuz he's just not THAT good so he could lose to a random guy before Canelo becomes a free agent again.

Berlanga has got to take this fight, no if's, and's, or but's about it. He needs a statement fight, and this right now is the fight to make his statement.
It will be an all action fight from start to finish, and if he's able to defeat Munguia, then all kinds of doors will be open to him.
He has to understand that Munguia has fought twice as many fight's then he has, and that Munguia is a former world champion, which he himself is not.
So you shouldn't get parity when it comes to the purse split, just make the fight happen prove your worth, and then you can debate purse split's in the future.

Berlanga manager Connonly already turned down the fight..

Hearn promised Berlanga TWO tune up fights and then a major payday vs Canelo..

Connonly is not taking anything less, Hearn wants to completely alter the structure of the deal.. Berlanga is talking out of his arse LOL..
