To put this as in to some sort of perspective, here in the UK, you can get 4 years for possession of and unloaded gun, now bomaac waltzed in to the the UK with a laoded gun with an extra clip, plus attempted to leave with it; in an informational airport.

In America you can get 5 years also but even a mandtory minimum gets reduced to a nothing charge for the right people. There have been over the years a few folks in the music business caught with firearms, will not mentioned names, but the individuals serverd a solid 2 years, before being released, those individual got pulled over, weapons found in their cars.
