Comments Thread For: Liam Smith Praises Eubank: He Was The Better Man, I Was Flat From The Get-Go

Former world champion Liam Smith believes he was physically affected by cutting down a lot of weight for the rematch with Chris Eubank Jr. Their first meeting, in January, saw Smith score a dramatic knockout victory over Eubank in only four rounds.

Fair play to Liam for giving Chris full credit, the rumours about him having a troublesome camp were true.

I like Liam a great deal and have always felt he was underrated, but he just didn't have it in the rematch. He looked bloated, disinterested, and completely befuddled at Eubank's improvements. Not entirely sure he even wanted to be there.

He definitely looked flat, flat footed and his physique didn't look right. Almost like he was going through the motions or just couldn't kick it into another gear.

Smith has stated that his team and all of his brothers would not let him fight if 'He was not in condition'.

During the first fight anyone that knows boxing, knows that really Eubank Junior was most likely suffering from the Chronic effects of overly weight draining himself for the Benn fight.

Unlike Smith, Eubank Junior from my knowledge has never been a big weight drainer 'Smith is a well known massive weight drainer'. Go and look back at all of his fights at 154 and certain press conferences were he lets people know 'That he needs to drop masses of weight to make the 154 pound weight limit'.

42 pounds, Smith was 42 pounds over the 160 pound weight limit 'Because he had a minor back injury? 42 pounds'. The reason why I am stating it was a minor injury, because that is how Smith described the injury.

If a boxer or any athlete does not want to gain weight, it is extremely simple 'Alter your diet'. If you are not participating in the type of training which needs certain macro's, then quite simply limit or ration their intake.

42 pounds over the 160 pound weight limit. So Liam Smith was at one stage 192 pounds 'One hundred and ninety two pounds'.

Chris Eubank Junior is at no point in his career from my knowledge weighing in at over 190 pounds.

Note: Liam Smith is a solid fighter, and deserves masses of respect. Because at-least he challenged Eubank Junior at 160 pounds without no catch weight and re-hydration clause 'Smith has one win over Eubank Junior, which is probably one his bests wins under the circumstance'.

The competition and fight, starts long before fight night. On a side note, I think far too many fighters these days are being exploited by the backwards ideology and methods of weight draining.

And even though Eubank Junior performed much better in this rematch, and his condition was clearly improved 'I even think Eubank Junior due to being in-between weights, is not really in top condition'.

Overall both fighters deserved credit, Smith for actually making a big fight at a proper weight 'And Eubank Junior for really performing under big pressure, and dealing with all the mocking and abuse since the first loss' etc.
