if calz does come out of retirement he wont be taking on johnson or erdei.

the only fights that calz would come out of retirement for are a fight with froch to shut him up and a fight at LHW with dawson.

having said that hes retired and i dont expect him to come out of reitrement, hes 38 now has been inactive for nearly a year. hes still in good shape but hes not in fighting shape.

Erdei wouldn't be necessary at all. Johnson, only if he beats Dawson (and thus making a Dawson fight not worthwhile) and vice versa.

Froch fight would be really good for us British fans and it's the only one that I give a slight possibility of happening, although I'm 99% sure we'll never see Joe in the ring again.

If Calzaghe beats Chad Dawson, I give him all the credit and wish him the best. Until then, I have my doubts about him. I don't know what Chad could do to entice Joe to fight him, though. There isn't enough competition at 175 right now.

I don't see Joe beat Chad Dawson. But I see him beating everyone else.

After that he fights Glen Johnson who's style is what I view as just a slower less busy version of himself really, so Joe should be able to get the UD after a tough fight with Glen. Finally he fights and wins a very competitive fight with Dawson, who is really the only 1 of the 4 I personally would give a realistic chance of beating Joe.
If he does these things even in fights where he would most likely be favored to win and runs his record to 50-0, that would be 8 legitimate opponents recently fought. Would fans give him much more respect and would boxing history be considerably more favorable to him if he did this? Discuss and comment
I'd give him huge credit for fighting Dawson, even if he loses.

i feel the same way. being competetive with dawson would be the most impressive fight in his career other than being competetive with 43 year old hopkins. erdie, froch and johnson dont prove much. but if he got in the ring with dawson, win lose or draw i would respect him alot more. great fighters take chances. and if he acctually won, damn.

another what if calzaghe thread. guess you have to do these since he didn't do squat in his actual career.

It would definitely improve his legacy, that's for sure. The Johnson fight wouldn't really do that much but wins against Erdei, Froch and Dawson would be great.
