Well if you last to hear final bell you won't be called quitter. It's just if you go down and don't make count. But even if you get up, ref sometimes stops it, depending what dance your legs are doing.

Starting to get up at 9 is the classic "I hope the ref waves this off" move. Everyone knows it.

DDD was tracking the count. He was not seriously hurt in general or in that he needed that extra second. He knew exactly what he was doing. We've all seen it dozens, if not hundreds of times, depending on how long you've been watching boxing.

Most notoriously Willie Monroe did this in the GGG fight where the ref called him out on this bs & asked him if he wanted to continue & he was like nah, either verbally or w/o a response idr which anymore tbh. I have almost zero doubt if the ref had played this same game with DDD & asked him if he wanted to continue then DDD would have said nah too.

And look if you've had too much you should quit. You don't get bonus pay for not quitting & taking more damage in a fight you probably aren't gonna win at the stage you quit. But he did quit & ppl will & should make certain calls about DDD as a man in this brutal sport with him doing so.

Yeh, he quit as his chance to win was gone. But maybe quit to fight another day. Nobody comes out of a fight without criticism. I mean usyk s 5th round antics left sour taste to many, so being called a quitter by some not as bad as it seems

I mean it is what it is, but yea I'd agree its not as bad as some make it seem for whats at risk. It does say something about him as a man & as a younger competitive boxer who's trying to win at the highest levels of the sport thats not good tho.

No one saying DDD quit is wrong so I'm with Zhang as is most everyone else I imagine. And he quit vs Joe. And he was looking like he wanted to quit vs Lerena, but I thought he overcome this quitting thing when he didn't quit that night. But idk how you are supposed to get rid of your desire to quit when it gets hot in the kitchen when its ingrained into someone.

I mean who has quit twice & suddenly got brave later in their career?
He quit in a unified world championship fight, with four rounds remaining because he was "discouraged"

After talking about how he had this big punchers chance, in the biggest fight of his career, and he quit with a third of it remaining instead of trying to throw that big punch.

He's not cut out for this.

quitting to fight another day, sure. But he may never (and shouldn't) get this chance ever again.

He's not cut out to be a #1 guy, but I think he's skilled enough to make a living from boxing for yrs to come. I mean lets be honest there are fair less skilled guys who are losing to guys like DDD & other fringe contenders & prospects in boxing who are reallllllllllly not cut out for boxing still boxing.

That said I do kinda think DDD doesn't love boxing, but when his goal & drive since he was 9 was to get in the position he was in vs Usyk its hard to walk that back. And idek what DDD is qualified to do after spending a decade & a half of his life with boxing as his foremost skill I assume.

Yes, quitting does leave me questioning DDD, whilst before i thought he could beat anyone. SO its made me more realistic what DDD can do at the highest level. DDD will come again as hes young enough. He will need to go on a solid run again to make me believe he can go any further in the sport. DDD wont like being seen as a quitter, but he will try be mysterious as to why he said no mas, sometimes things are best kept to yourself.

It was verbally. We talked about that recently because it was Jack Reiss being his usual attention whore self. Made Willy tell him “I’m done” TWICE, since he pulled that “I can’t hear you.” Crap lol
