Vergil Ortiz vs. Jose Benavidez at 154?

Heard Ortiz is coming back in December at 154 or even 160. Jose is a big guy and Ortiz needs to get his feet wet at 154+.

    Thoughts?

Not a bad pick, but I think an opponent from Matchroom is more likely, Liam Smith or Israil Madrimov come to mind.

Sucks he has to go with Matchroom guys. Itd be a good scrap and would give Ortiz a common opponent with Bud should he win.

Man that's disappointing. Ortiz coulda been the top guy at WW. Now I guess that dead division belongs to booty ennis.

        Isn't benavidez a pbc fighter?

I think both opponents have a better resume at 154 than Jose Benavidez Jr. But to be fair, Vergil hasn't fought for a year already, plus there is also the fact that he needed to recover from rhabdomyolysis twice and he got unconscious trying to cut weight after. He went to a health facility center to clear him, had hired a proper nutritionist and has gotten health equipment to recover from training, so we will see in December if he can fight at the top level.

Jose Benavidez mann he could have been a force without that street sht. I remember him entering the game with Frankie Gomez as hot prospects.

Even with one good leg he gave Crawford the business and he would be no easy task for Ortiz either. Infact, if Ortiz isnt well himself, Benavidez could surprise him.

Benavidez has that natural talent and he could still beat handful of guys out there.

Damn, I havemt heard Frankie Gomezs name for a minute. On the bright side, he retired undefeated.

I agree pre shooting Benavidez was a top contender.

                  Hopefully Ortiz stays healthy.

And Panchito Bojado too. If guys like him and Gomez had hungers to match their talents, they would have gone far. Remember Bojado? I once saw him changing speed and direction on his left hook while in motion. Dude was crazy good.
