One thing they complain about in a desperate attempt to drag him down to their favorite fighters level is "Mayweather is boring to watch" which is ironic considering millions of boxing fans spend 60$ of their hard earned money in the middle of a recession to watch him every time he gets into the ring. I guess they don't realize there's still educated boxing fans out there who appreciate masterful performances and would rather pay to see an artist do his **** in the ring at the highest level then watch 2 pretty good fighters aimlessly throw bombs at eachother until somebody goes down.

You can't argue with statistics, more people pay to see Mayweather fight then any other fighter which makes him the most entertaining in the publics eye. You can keep coming up with petty excuses to bring your favorite fighters up to his level but the monster numbers he brings in every time he fights speak for themselves.

"Men lie, women lie, numbers don't"
The majority of people pay to see Floyd lose. Whether or not that is something to be proud about in connection with getting big tickets sales or PPV numbers is up to the consumer (or fan).

It's like the Saw movies. You always ask yourself, "Come on...another one???" But you end up going to see it anyway for the death scenes.

Because most people want to see him lose. He cries everytime he wins... I can only imagine what he will do when he fights a genuine top guy and loses- if he ever fights a true top guy at their best. Mayweather has always fled from figthing the best at their best. He'd rather fight them when their old or are out of their weight class, or have already been exposed... Everyone knows he is skilled, in fact, the most skilled fighter in boxing. But everyone must acknowledge that he has not faced the best of the best, at their best.

People like to see the best of the best. Mayweather has that invincible aura around him which attracts a lot of intrigue

Also, he's the perfect opponent. When your fighter faces him it's like he's facing the final boss of boxing, so Mayweather enhances his opponent's drawing power in a way (case in point: Ricky Hatton). Mayweather's a huge draw and point of interest in boxing even if he's not a protagonist figure that attracts rabid fans (though he has his fair share of rabid fans of course, myself included ), some people don't seem to get this - you can have the drawing power without the adoration.

Now we are seeing how big cotto vs pacman is compared to marquez vs floyd.

That is comparing A/B vs C/D. That is the worst kind of comparison.

They have fought common opponents. How did they do against other common opponents?

Pacquaio vs Marquez was before Oscar vs Pacquaio which is the fight that brought pacquaio to the mainstream.

Im comparing their fights from when they fought oscar till now since everyone knows that both fighters got far more popular after they fought oscar.

Because both werent house hold names before they fought oscar so why bring up pacquaio vs marquez 2 number when none of them at the time were even a household name at all.

Okay then, but Mayweather's numbers against Oscar and Hatton trump Pacquiao's fairly comfortably too.
