Understand where he's coming from, but his injuries have held up the division for a long minute while accepting a fight 2 divisions higher than fighting who he needs to fight to keep that belt. Can't have your cake and eat it. Let Crawford and Tszyu go at it, and face the winner. He was gonna hafta cross paths with both those guys one way or another, but IF Crawford wins that one, you got a bigger build up to a fight that was already brewing heavy anyway.

he's not staying at 168 - win or lose, except to fight a rematch with Canelo if he wins.

and he's not going to be able to make 154 and be effective - he'll either miss weight or make weight and be drained. Worst thing he could do is come back down to 154 and fight Crawford - he'd get obliterated

he'll end up fighting at MW, might snag a belt and regardless of if he does he'll be a name to fight there

So Charlo doesn’t want to fight for Canelo’s WBO belt then? Doesn’t make much sense. Of course Charlo is paying the WBO sanctioning fee

He already said, if he wins, he's rematching canelo. That tszyu fight ain't happening no time soon

WBO sanctioning fees are actually significantly better than WBC and WBA. It's just 3% of the champions purse (not challenger) 2% if it's a unification, and no promoter fee.

and it maxes out at 250k. Didn't know that. WBC is 3% with no maximum. I think the WBA only added a maximum when they added more belts.

He "said" he would beat up Tim, that ain't happening anytime soon. Word are meaningless.

That was the plan until a 8 figure payday popped up because his brother wasn't ready.

Fight Tim for 1.5 million or canelo for 10 million?

And if he beats canelo. That's another 15 to 20 million for him in a rematch. Canelo>tszyu

You can’t have your cake and eat it too and you can’t make fans wait forever, that’s why you should stay busy. If you’re good, you can go back and win your title back from Tim.

I'd agree with you if he were actually going up to 168, but his team said they weren't going to have him put on weight for this, just that they weren't going to cut as much, and otherwise have him fight as normal. The cut to 154 has to be crazy for a guy as big as Mell. If he were putting on mass and then trying to take it off, that would be a different story, but that's not the plan, from what they've said.

Didn't know that. If he just goes through camp at his walk around weight he'll lose a bit of weight but maybe step on the scales just over 160 - that would allow him to get back to 154 more easily but maybe be fighting at a disadvantage against Canelo who'll likely be 175 in the ring
