People keep calling Jermell small…he’s been weight draining to stay in a weak 154 division all these years. Come fight night he will appear noticeably bigger in the ring.

whether his punch will be as effective at 168 is a huge question, though. He's had his power bail him out against smaller men several times. I don't see that happening against Canelo.Comment

We won’t know until the right. Either the extra weight helps him because he isn’t weakened from draining down to 154, or he doesn’t carry his power up to 168, which makes a long night for him. Either way, he doesn’t have the punching power to really hurt Canelo. Jermell knows he was going to be in a dogfight with Tszyu or Crawford, but a dogfight with Canelo has a much bigger reward. I think he relinquishes a title or two rather than fight Crawford. Likely moves to 160 where it is again a weak division now, while his brothers moves to 168.Comment

Because NSB and other places are giving Crawford a pass for ducking Boots - so they can't say anything about Canelo ducking Benavidez.
You can't criticize one fighter for ignoring mandatories and chasing money, but praise the other for doing the same. It makes you a hypocrite.
The bottom line is, BOTH guys have smoke in their current weight class and BOTH guys should be dealing with that smoke first. People should not be dismissing that smoke.
You can't say that Boots/Stankonia isn't ready for Crawford but Tim Tszyu is ready for Charlo and Benavidez/Andrade/Munguia/etc. is ready for Canelo. All these guys are basically ready for a mandatory shot, and that's what we should be seeing from ALL THREE of them.
We also need to remember:
when Manny was just TALKING about fighting lightweight Cryan instead of a mandatory, the WBA stripped his ass.
WBO is stripping Charlo for not defending against his mandatory.
Multiple belt orgs stripped Josh Taylor for not defending against mandatories.
So to me, Crawford should be stripped for talking about fighting lightweights and middleweights, UNLESS both Stankonia and Boots take step-aside money, which I don't think they have.
Likely the only reason they haven't stripped or threatened to strip yet is because we don't know if Spence is going to do the rematch. But even if he is, Spence wants it at 154, so it's the same damn thing.

Canelo vs. Benavidez
Jermell vs. Tszyu
Crawford vs. the winner
That's all we wanted, a nice logical sequence of bouts to determine the best at 154lbs and 168lbs. Simple.
Instead we get this ****** fight no one was asking for, the belts all become fractured again at 154, Jermell takes his loss and moves to 160 to start over and Canelo then fights his alcoholic brother coming off a three year layoff/retirement.
Boxing is great!Comment

I like Mell confidence I hope he really brings heat against the ginger, cause I want to watch a good fight, people have been clamoring to matchup the Charlos against canelo, unfortunately mall said he wasnt ready physically nor mentally so his undisputed brother stepped in to the plate and thats worthy of respect in my book. Dont care what the whiny ass mofos say.Comment

I respect Charlo’s decision to chase greatness but this comment sounds like he’s going to intentionally avoid Crawford for the time being.Comment
