He needs to stop. Charlo is an inflated 154 lber. Why isn't he fighting Andrade or Benadvidez, the true 168s, bordering 175. Then, we would see if he has lost a step.

Its ok for Canelo to jump from 160 to 175(15 pounds) to fight Kovalev, but not Charlo who is taller and longer than Canelo. 154 to 168(14 pound jump).

Canelo is the same height as Teo, Devin, Shakur shorter than Ryan Garcia.

Charlo doesn't have the luxury of duel rehydration clauses. You saw what happen in the Bivol fight (which I believe Bivol was holding back for the 2nd payday at 168) when he fought a real 175. Imagine if his team had been ****** enough to think Beterbiev (absolutely no clue how to carry a fighter for 12 rounds) was cake.

I'm going out on a limb and saying Canelo beats Charlo--maybe by KO. But I could be wrong like many were with Spence.

Charlo has the same problem as other fighters against Alvarez: Canelo is one of those guys that you just cannot knock out. If Charlo doesn't get knocked out, then it goes to the judges who pretty much all work for the Bank of Canelo.

But it would not surprise me to see Charlo KO'd face down with his brain in the Oort cloud.

I think Canelo is a great fighter. That said, I think he should retire.
He’s not proving NOTHING by fighting a 154 pound fighter. If he’s serious about “missing a step”. He should fight Benividas.

My Take:

A lot depends upon which Canelo shows up. I don't think Canelo lost a step but I have noticed that when Canelo fights movers, plan A has no head movement, no angles, just walk in with a high guard and **** it out. "Walk'em down" worked on Plant but not on Bivol. "Walkem down" will never work against a mover like Andrade or killer like Benavidez. Can you see where I'm going with this?

As for Charlo, I realize that in Castino #I Brian was able to sit in the pocket and bully the bully but in Castano #II, the pocket turned into a kill zone but how does that play out with a stronger faster Canelo? The question in my mind for Canelo is if the high guard "walk'em down" looks like a rerun of Bivol, can Canelo get back to his imitation of Floyd with head movement, sharp counters and angles on the inside?

For the record, I don't like the way this fight came about:
It's kind of shyty that Canelo got away with skipping over the same guys, in his same weight class for years. I understand boxing is a risk vs reward business but the sanctioning bodies shouldn't be. If the rules only apply when it's financially advantageous, what is the point of the belts?

Even if Charlo wins, he still loses, if that makes sense. He’s gotta fight Canelo, the ref, and all 3 judges at the same time. If Charlo does see the end and has done good enough to win by points, it just won’t be allowed. Now Haymon is running the show. Who is worth more to Haymon, Charlo or Canelo? Obviously Canelo. He will still have Canelo for 2 more fights, after the Charlo fight. I just hope he fights the winner of Andrade vs Benny!
