  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: 'We'll See If It's True That I've Lost A Step' Against Charlo

By Manouk Akopyan - Canelo Alvarez has had an uneven ride ever since beating Caleb Plant to become the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world in November 2021. In May 2022, Alvarez stepped up to light heavyweight and lost to Dmitry Bivol. In September 2022, Alvarez scored a unanimous decision win against Gennadiy Golovkin in a trilogy fight. Shortly afterward, Alvarez had left wrist surgery.

He'll be a disgrace to boxing if he fails to knockout a 154lber who never even fought at 168lbs his whole life. Not to mention Charlo is coming off a 16 month layoff without a tuneup fight to acclimate to the new weight class.

Funny that canelo not too long ago wanted to fight at cruiser weigh and now fight a two weigh class down.. of course he lost step and he knows that , what about the bivol fight ? I haven't heard a word about , a fight that will never happen.

Its ok for Canelo to jump from 160 to 175(15 pounds) to fight Kovalev, but not Charlo who is taller and longer than Canelo. 154 to 168(14 pound jump).

Canelo is the same height as Teo, Devin, Shakur shorter than Ryan Garcia.

When it comes down to it; Canelo's experience and skill should win the day for him. However and at the same time: I just don't see him stopping Jermell Charlo.
