  • Comments Thread For: Charlo Impressed By Joshua's Latest Win: He Did a Great Job

Undisputed junior middleweight world champion Jermell Charlo has offered high praise to heavyweight Anthony Joshua for his recent performance. Joshua picked up his first knockout victory since 2020, when he knocked out late replacement Robert Helenius with a brutal right hand in the seventh round.

If Joshua takes an aggressive approach to this fight, he can and will knock Wilder out. But if he does that patient methodical type of fight that he just showed with Helienous, then he will get knock out. JUST SAYING!!!

Both aggressive and passive likely get him knocked out. He’s too frail in the chin and heart.

I can appreciate his cautious approach against Helenius…still getting used to that Texas stable, but I also think DW knocks him spark out.

Impressed? He still fought scared. Helenious is a punching bag and made AJ bleed. At certain points AJ looked like a deer in headlights.

Thought AJ looked better vs Ruiz in the 2nd

What else do we expect Charlo to say? They're stablemates.

I wasn't impressed but I wasn't disappointed either. I felt AJ did what was expected while showing improvements in certain areas but also flaws, which need fine-tuning.

New AJ is Dak Prescott in the playoffs. Deer in the headlights, a thousand yard stare, whatever. He's broken.

AJ is just looking for one last cash-out fight, win or lose.

I disagree (well, sort of). I think starting out too agrressive is a very risky approach to tackling Wilder. There is a fine line Joshua would need to walk, but I think patient and methodically breaking Wilder down is a decent path to victory -- it would just have to be applied much better than what we saw against Helenius. Some sort of conservative approach is needed in the first few rounds, trying to chip away at Wilder. He can up the aggression as Wilder begins to fatigue -- susceptability to fatigue being a major vulnerability we saw in the second and third fight against Fury.

He looked like dogwank against a glass jaw bummer on literally 10 days notice. How anyone can support AJ, is mindblowing.
