There have been plenty of fights where an opponent barely wins a round but it was still a competitive fight with all the rounds being competitive. A mismatch would be Spence Crawford. If you are harping on the one single round part of the analogy you are just being bad faith.
Benavidez won every single round on every card in the Gavril rematch but I would not describe that fight as a mismatch. Benavidez was just clearly superior. A mismatch is like a lion toying with their food.Comment

He has a pretty high level of intelligence to make it to where he did. One bad night doesn't change that. Yeah maybe he's lost a step due to be thrown out of a windshield at 120 mph. However he's a warrior. And if he's not intelligent in the ring then 90% of welterweights aren't either.
He beat 3 Champs and defended his belts quite a bit. He just got beat by the better man that night. And he can definitely come with a better fight plan in a rematch. Don't know if he will win, but he doesn't have to get smarter. He has to have a better game plan to win though.
You guys kill me like one bad loss basically means he stinks and he's a dumb fighter. Really give this a rest.Comment

Man, it hurts to hear this because you can only feel for Errol and the emotions he's going through to get back at Bud and try to do SOMETHING. The fact is, I don't think Errol can do 1 thing to Bud that Bud doesn't already know. The man fought the frikin fight southpaw when he typically starts out orthodox and eventually switches. He gave Spence only a southpaw look for the fight. Perhaps this time Bud decides to go orthodox. I'm sure Spence would have a tad more success since that's all he mostly has fought, but Bud would be playing with Errol at that point. Whenever he feels Spence might figure something out, he'd switch back to southpaw where Spence was clueless.
I love watching Spence fights. Him taking down Brooks was one of the most exciting wins I've seen live. Watching him get absolutely wrecked against Bud was painful to watch because I love both guys and really appreciate Errol's down to earth, honest opinion type of personality. It's like he never deserved to get beat the way he did, but that's boxing.
For his sake, he just needs to stay away from Bud and accept that Bud is the better man. Move on and claim "man down" on other dudes not named "Bud".Comment
