It's boxing...there's a lot more to a fight than just the fighter's purse or willingness. Fury did offer to make it a one-fight deal which tells me he must be fairly confident of a win.

I think we overestimate the say a fighter has in making fights and completely ignore the people putting up the money. For Frank to keep this fight, it is important that his guy has the major share of the purse or at the least 50%. It gives promoters some playing field for if things work out or not because these purses are only offered if certain conditions are met (e,g,, min PPV buys, gate fee, etc.). That is why you almost never see the B-side making offers to the A-side.

Usyk such a diva that no one could make a fight with him and it's a no-brainer why Fury moved on to the next most worthy challenger. Oh wait, Usyk's fighting Dubois in a couple of weeks and Fury isn't even fighting an actual boxer next. Maybe it wasn't Usyk that was the problem.

Check your facts. Ngannou is a converted Boxer and nothing but. Not a guy who's timeline from introduction to MMA to first pro fight was as long as his Boxing apprenticeship (18 solid months of training boxing), not a guy with any other background and not a guy who came to MMA with no training base.


Usyk is a beltholder and a contender; not the champion. Boxing has an undefeated champion of the lineage. He'll need to retire or get beaten for this to change.
