For of all the sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: it might have been.

The pain of self discipline is weighed in ounces. The pain of regret is measured in pounds.

He had a helluva career but I'd agree that he most likely could have done more. He had a lot of out of the ring distractions (family, spouses, drugs, etc) that probably stunted potential success.

Switching trainers left and right didn't help. His original trainer was fine it was his cardio that was the issue.

But it does feel like he could have done even more if he hadn’t been sidetracked with issues outside the ring.

I had him beating Trinidad and Mosley in the rematch but on the flip side I think Ike Quartay and Felix Sturm beat him. Sturm without a doubt.

I also had him beating Tito and Mosley. I remember thinking the Quartey fight was razor close when I watched it but I can't remember who I thought won (I was rooting for Ike so I imagine I probably felt he won). Sturm definitely beat him and I also felt he lost to Sweet Pea Whitaker too.

On a side note, my favorite fighter at that time was Oba Carr. He never really won any of the big fights but he usually fought them tough.

Beating up women isn’t something you come back from. Once a scumbag always a scumbag.
