No the ref woulda stopped it or DLH could have finished it until the humiliating UD. No way Pac was gonna KO him. DLH wasn't KOed by middleweights, Pacquiao couldn't KO him when he landed 1000 times on a dehydrated version of him.

That was an unhealthy, past his prime De la Hoya who still had a great chin that night, but the accumulation of punches would have caught up to him. Also, Manny wasn't really sitting down on his punches as he usually does because he didn't want to get countered. Roach advised him before Round 9 to go for broke, but Manny never had the chance. The iron chin Margarito took the best Mosley had to throw, but the accumulation of those flush shots eventually wore him down. Same would have happened with Oscar, but the ref would have probably stopped the fight before anyways.

I know this is an old subject, but why the hell did Oscar weigh 145 two weeks prior to the fight. I have been watching boxing since I was a little kid during the Hagler years and I never seen any fighter do that. Yeah, it wasn't Oscar's fault for being past his prime, but he is definitely an idiot for weighing in under 147 2 ****ing weeks before the fight! I am no boxer or nutritionist, but I know that is very unhealthy thing to do for an athlete. The body will adjust to that weight after 2 weeks and it would be almost impossible to rehydrate in only 24 hours. He is lucky he didn't get seriously injured that night, as dehydration not only effects his the body but the brain as well.

When i say middleweights i include junior middleweights like Vargas, Castillejo, or 154 Mosley too. All those guys are stronger than Pac.

DLH has a granite chin and even though Pac has a lot of power, i believe DLH could have gone the distance if his corner and the ref were ****** enough to let him do that. But DLH quit as we know so this thread is useless.

That's the reason why the fight was made. It made things a little bit more even. We ALL knew that his best days were past him.

No i don't think so. Pacquiao's power is still there and actually it improved more than anything else. Pacquiao, just because of his destruction of 140 pounds champ Hatton, is a real challenge for Cotto to prove he's the best at 147.
Cotto 58% Pacquiao 42%, it's a hard fight for both but as i explained too many times Pacquiao should have stayed at 140 and Cotto has exactly the tools to annihilate Pacquiao's assets.
