Only a few number of fighters make it as an excuse like maybe they're having a hard time getting fights, but most of them know what the body is capable of, and serious, intense training will get them back to speed. Going to the gym regularly or at home would shake off any rust. The lazy ones have no right to make excuses.

Which is why fighting once a year is never a big deal nowadays. Making money in the $100K range is enough for most of them. Carlos Adames is just happy to buy a new car and fat shiny gold necklaces...hehe... the heck with rushing for a next fight...

Absolutely, it's always been the fighters' fans that make excuses for them because there are fighters who choose to be inactive. One year is probably too long and most of them want to come back, but the problem is the fight that was offered to them earlier is no longer there. They want it in their own time, which doesn't work that way.

Fans treat their fighters like they're babies. Grown ass men being treated like they don't know what they're doing. You'll even hear them say father and son team getting the short end of the stick. How can that even be possible? Grown ass men allowing themselves to be taken advantage of.

Well, yeah, that's what the sanctioning bodies are for.

If they started stripping guys who didn't fight for a whole year or unlisting guys from the ratings that haven't fought in a whole year, you'd see the end of a lot of that shxt, but Mauricio & them are all corrupt.

That's why Jermall hasn't fought in 2 years and has kept his belt.

Even if he was injured he should be stripped. Just make him champ in recess & give him a shot at the real champ when he gets back.

The funny thing is, guys used to have tune up fights 6-8 weeks before their big fights. Now guys fight once every six months, and one of those two fights is considered a "tune up"

hell, a lot of times it's both fights lmfao

Almost all of them are doing the same thing. They'd rather wait no matter how long it takes to get to the huge payday. Time is money in a different direction. Wasting time seems to have become an investment, instead of a liability.

That's why fans need to stop making "long layoff" excuses. Jermell Charlo himself says so and added ring rust doesn't exist.

if i was a betting guy & the guy i wanted to bet on to win, was coming from a long lay off, i would be like hhhhmmmm, not so sure about this, i like to see guys fighting regular and well & they tend to continue that way until injury or meeting a guy better than them in the ring, i think
