  • Comments Thread For: BBBofC May Appeal Recent Ruling That Cleared Conor Benn

Last week, welterweight contender Conor Benn announced on social media that he was cleared of doping charges by UK Anti-Doping [UKAD]. Benn was suspended and formally charged by UKAD in April after twice testing positive for banned substance clomifene in connection to last October's fight with Chris Eubank Jr.

If Benn is given a hall pass, the UK has drug testing in name only going forward. First Fury and now Benn - if you are a big name fighter, you get to test positive and face zero consequences. Insane.

The Dillian Whyte vs Oscar Rivas incident was more than enough to confirm what you just wrote.

            Interesting!

BBBoC said this: "As set out therein, we wish to reconfirm that the UK Anti-Doping Rules which apply to those proceedings provide all relevant parties, including the BBBofC, with a right of appeal. The BBBofC takes all anti-doping matters extremely seriously and is considering the exercise of its rights pursuant to the Rules."

And 3 days ago, UKAD said this: “The UK Anti-Doping Rules detail limited circumstances in which UKAD is able to make public disclosures about ongoing cases. They also set out a clear process within which cases can be heard and decisions can be handed down by the independent National Anti-Doping Panel. Where case decisions are handed down by a panel, the Rules provide all relevant parties with a right of appeal. Under the Rules, UKAD has 21 days from the date of receipt of a decision to file any appeal. UKAD carefully reviews all decisions in its cases before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal."

So the National Anti-Doping Panel cleared Benn, and now both UKAD and the BBBoC are considering appealing against the NAPD's decision. That may have happened before, but if so, I never heard about it.

What a cruel world we live in. Rich famous people can't have their eggs in privacy of their homes.

All Benn wanted was a couple of scrambled eggs and punch people on the head. I say, let man do what he's got to do.
