Spence was going to the wrong side right into the power jab which was really messing evwrything up. Of course generally you don't want to circle into the back hand, but that's not actually always true. Spence would have had a better chance at getting his own jab off if he did, because the fight was being completely dictated by the power jab of Crawford.
not that I think it would have made much difference and I think Crawford was always going to win from what we've seen, but my point is I think Derrick James was very vague with his instructions... but maybe he was just as perplexed as SpenceComment

Danny Garcia can’t punch if he’s made to move. He’s not a dangerous puncher for any well schooled boxer.Comment

Spence got 2 options the Bud rematch @154 or personally try to target the Danny Garcia-Lara winner since it ain't a real MW title take the belt then step down challenge for a belt or such @154. By then Jermell should have fought Canelo also Bud got some serious unfinished business @147 vs Boots before he focuses on 154. Boots speed switch hitting n length should make for a good matchComment

At 147lbs - Spence needs to stay away from Crawford. I picked Spence to win, but from what I saw in the fight Spence wasn't there. Whether it was the weight cut, poor training camp or the long lay-off, Spence wasn't the same fighter I've been watching over the years. Sure, Crawford's skill, presence and technique played a HUGE role in why Spence looked so bad, but Spence should have been better prepared for what he knew Crawford brought to the table. That was the first time I saw Spence look that bad, again Crawford played a role in that, but it shouldn't have been that bad.
IMHO: Stay away from Crawford, even at 154lbs because Spence is not the same fighter he was before all the chaos in his life. And Spence needs to get out of the 147lb division - losing almost 40lbs to make weight for a fight just isn't going to work. Especially when you have a technician such as Crawford as an opponent. Crawford is much better than I thought and he showed that it will take a MASTER boxer to defeat him at this point and Spence isn't that master boxer.
Spence fell into a bad pattern of always looking to dominate to the body and that doesn't work with every opponent. After the knockdown in RD 2, Spence got impatient and immediately started going to the body, because he didn't know any other way to get back into the fight. That should hae been dealt with in camp - so either Spence had a terrible camp or he was more focused on cutting weight than building his defensive skill and avoiding counters.
Best man won, no doubt about it, But I wished I could have witnessed a proper fight between Spence and Crawford with both being at their absolute best.Comment

Absolutely no need for a rematch. Spence fought like a warrior, went out on his shield, and was still trying till the very end.
He can still be relevant at 154 and pick up a belt there.Comment

By scheduling the fight at a higher weight class, he gives himself a bit of a buffer... because it will slow Crawford down a bit, he gets a cash out fight, and if by some miracle he is right, he gets affirmation.Comment

“I know I’m a lot better than what I showed tonight,” Spence said.
No, he is not.
He made his name fighting smaller guys like Mikey and Danny Garcia, and Lamont Peterson.
He is a Jr Middle campaigning as a welter weight.
His rock em, sock em, act played out, and he was exposed....badly.
He should quit while he is ahead and take his money and retire, and go into the Hall of Fame as the 'B-Side' to Bud Crawford.
Because to fight Terence Crawford again, and get beat down worse will erase all doubt of what and who he is, and that is a weight bully and a fraud.I wouldn't call Spence a "fraud" but he did use the weight as a means to gain a rather significant advantage. And the lightbulb went off when people had to realize that Spence had never really faced a puncher.
