Hopefully this isn’t another case of a Top Rank fighter suffering an injury and postponing the fight, only to end up fighting a different opponent afterwards.

Like Josh Taylor. Or like when Roman Martinez was supposed to defend his belt against Miguel Berchelt, got “injured,” then defended his belt against Lomachenko instead.

Man, just want this pointless fight to pass already. Guess my blind optimism still thinks that Beter-Bivol can still happen.

Since early this year we have been having all these postponements and cancelations of fights due to injury or illness. It been one of the worst years.

Yeah I reckon its probably genuine. Hopefully just a short postponement.

I think its a decent fight. I'd still pick Beterbiev but at least Smith would have longer than the 5 weeks notice he had for the Canelo fight, nor is he dead at the weight at 175.

So I hope we get to see it. In a way maybe a postponement isn't too bad because it may mean we get Bivol and Beterbiev fighting around a similar time and then there might be more pressure for them to negotiate if the path is clear and both just come off wins at a similar time.

Its always a bit more difficult if Beterbiev coming off a win in August and Bivol is having some other fight being announced for December or something, then Beterbiev gets a mandatory fight slapped on him etc..

Jaw bone infection sounds bad. I’ve had my fair share of surgeries in my life, some life threatening; but I’d be scared schitless getting my jaw bone opened up for some surgery! I have a feeling we aren’t talking about an infected tooth or impacted wisdom tooth. Hell no. Good luck Artur!
