Not a huge fan of Catchweight fights

My opinion on Catchweight fights in boxing and UFC it dehydrates the bigger fighter in a match. Just fight in the proper weight class moving down in weight is more difficult than going up in weight. A fighter coming down in weight will have to restrict calories during training and then (temporarily) dehydrate themselves to make the Official Weight Class. It's the reason why Roy Jones Jr looks like an average fighter when he moves back to 175 after defeating John Ruiz for the WBA Heavyweight title.

CW's are there to level the playing field.... i know most of ya hate on CW but it is what it is... it's not like it's one sided only, one guy will have to eat more and gain weight while the other will have to lose weight. so both will be handicap.

Roy was just passed it when he fought Tarver. They had identical fight night weights.

im fine with catch weights if it’s meeting half way for two top guys from two divisions to have a super fight. I’m against them if it’s just the A side wanting an advantage

Manny Pacquiao who used Catchweight in some of his fights was also a victim of weight draining. He losses his 2nd fight because he was over the weight limit and the officials made him wear thick gloves

Catchweights are fine if they meet in the middle of 2 weight divisions. making a bigger guy come all the way down to your weight class is garbage. If Inoue and Tank ever meet, it should be at 130 if Inoue goes to 126 and Tank is still at 135. One guy shouldn't have all the advantages if these situations

            - - All fights today are catchweights.

Boxing started 400 years ago as an open division.

Thats BS, when a guy comes down a lot it hurts him a lot, when a guy comes up it makes him stronger. its not about CW on face value because of many variables involved its about the individuals and how it affects them, how much weight they had to lose how much below their best is the CW and how much they are redlined with weight before the CW was even put on them 2lb can be nothing to one guy and 2lb can kill another.

Even playing field on paper in a fans world where 2lb is a tub of butter, in the real world of a fighter even playing field my ass!

Then the fighter coming down shouldn't take the fight. Money talks and excuses don't fly if the guy agrees to the deal.

As I said it depends on the individuals what the impact is going to be some will have no issues others will be destroyed and you don't know until after the event, and the strangest part is they don't try it to see how they going to go making the weight they guesstimate it, what is an excuse when its all said and done nothing more than a reason, is the reason true or false that's the question, if its an excuse but fact why shouldn't it be said, why do people make out oh you cant have a reason why you lost even though before a fight the reason is not a thing, that just seems ridiculous to me, hindsight is 20/20 vision its either true or not true to make out it is not there seems ****** to me.
