Yes and I totally agree about the protection but I was explained from a local cornerman that applying tape first to the hand will cause a cast like wrap
I know rom having a cast that the gauze goes on before anything

If he's not used to wrapping his hands like that it can be distracting and very uncomfortable. Also there's an art to wrap stacking, so if nobody in his camp knows how to do it that can be troublesome. You don't wait until the 11th hour to start trying new stuff that you haven't ever done in your career.

That has nothing to do with what I said (And I completely agree with you that you don't wait until the week of the fight to bring up these complaints) The guy asked why Fulton doesn't do the same. This isn't an RPG video game where you can just interchangeably replace equipment and raise the necessary stats you need for the boss fight.
