Would have loved for prime G to have been around at the same time that Taylor, Pavlik, Hopkins, et al were running the MW division, I know G wouldn't have escaped unscathed, but they would have been wars. But his long amateur career, and coming up abroad, moved and shortened his prime window while a pro. Thats why I look at that 2010-2015 period for G.
This another why I question GGGs career. He was beating up cab driving eurobums when these guys were all fighting the best. Pavlik even moved up to fight bhop at 175(mistake but still he dared to be great). GGG didn’t even consider doing this he conveniently avoided pav and Taylor and tried to come in and claim cotto a blown up 147 fighter was avoiding him. Then proceeded to fight no one the rest of his career

This is false. Ward wanted the fight. Kovalev would have taken it. Charlo was never offered it. GGG just tried to fight blown up WWs like cotto and kell Brookand known injured fighters like Sergio Martinez who was at the end of his career to claim people avoided him while never fighting a meaningful opponent in his career besides canelo. Who history will read 20 years from now he 0-2-1 against. Sad sad career from an accomplishment stand point

This is what I am writing though, and where we disagree, I think the opponents he fought in the early 2010s we solid (not nobodies). And I have no problem with a guy who remains in a weight class where he feels he is his best. Moving up for the sake of chasing a big name is something I don't care for.

Regarding him not fighting those guys when they were at their best, thats the other point, Universum screwed him over when he was in Germany and kept him away from getting the big fights. He was in his late 20s by the time he was able to get free from them, and already in his 30s by the time he made his debut in the US. GGG is another one of boxings examples of how one of the major keys to having a great career/resume is having a good promotion supporting you.

I don't recall Golovkin ever calling out Cotto until Miguel fought at MW. And he certainly wasn't going out of his way to fight Brook. So you want guys to move up but then ***** about guys who are already in that division calling them out? So shouldn't you complain about Ward calling out GGG, even tho he had never fought at 168? Be consistent and also stop being intentionally ****** as to why Golovkin wasn't able to get meaningful fights until he left Universum. Guys like you keep saying he was content fighting eurobums, so why didn't he stay over there if that was the case? Surely it doesn't make sense for him to start fighting better fighters in his late 30s, as he's not in his prime anymore.

He wasn’t tho. He never actaully fought at 160. His MW title fights were all catch weights slightly below 160. He was a blown up WW chasing big money fights at the end of his career. He’d already fought the best and fought WARS in the ring. My point is GGG hasn’t earned that at all yet him and his fans expect all the accolades. Even if he won the 1st canelo fight which I believe he did he got smoked the next 2 and hasn’t fought another elite fighter his entire career.

                    • The right coach could have turned GGG into anything. Abel decided to make him into a slugger. He’s a bad coach.
