Triple G was something to watch. He got cheated in the 1st Canelo fight. He deserves his retirement

Speaking of which, thats what I am trying to write about Charlo. Yes he had an interim MW belt by mid 2018, but thats when GGG was in negotiations for the Canelo rematch, then it got postpones with the suspension, then G lost his belts. By the end of all that it was 2019. GGG was in his late 30s by then; and I'm not gonna judge him as a fighter by what he's doing at an age when many ATGs were already retired.

If you want to get down on GGG for holding MW belts hostage over the last few years as an old man thats fair. But when it’s time to evaluate him as a fighter, evaluate the best version of him (whatever you may think of that) not the old man version.
I respect this. I can’t judge GGG when he was at his best cause he fought no one. We don’t really know how good he really was unfortunately. I don’t give canelo much credit for the kovalev fight but he did do it. Right after kovalev had just knocked yarde out. GGG never took a risk like that in his whole career. Tried to pick on blown up WWs his whole career so I don’t put much Stock in him anymore

I feel what you are saying. I guess I was just really big into early century middleweights ( I postponed taking my wife to the hospital for the birth of our firstborn child to watch a Kelly Pavlik, Jermain Taylor doubleheader on TV). So when I see his wins against Macklin, Murray, Geale, and a few others, I see that as something to judge him by.

Bro Pavlik/Taylor is one of if not my favourite fight I saw it live! Kelly is one of my all time fave fighters. He would’ve put a BEATDOWN on GGG. Prime Martinez too. Before the knee injury. The golden age

Loved Pavlik, him v Taylor was one of my favs too (though the fights I postponed going to the hospital for was Pavlik vs Miranda followed by Taylor vs Spinks). The crazy thing about him, which ties it back to GGG, is the two of them were born only 3 days apart; but their careers seem so far apart.

Would have loved for prime G to have been around at the same time that Taylor, Pavlik, Hopkins, et al were running the MW division, I know G wouldn't have escaped unscathed, but they would have been wars. But his long amateur career, and coming up abroad, moved and shortened his prime window while a pro. Thats why I look at that 2010-2015 period for G.

              LMFAO

Pavlik is about basic as basic goes. 2 left feet. slow. 1-2. 1-2.

Golovkin would've blasted him out. Martinez got walked down by Margarito. Golovkin would cave his head in.

Both went out with a whimper. Golovkin due to age, and Disabled due to inability. Terrible gameplan in Gassiev vs Usyk with no adjustments. Retired from training afterwards.

Golovkin was a dangerous fighter when he was prime & nobody wanted to face him. Unfortunately, he debuted in the states too late and he just got old.
