Literally one of the most pathetic careers of any fighter that could have been an ATG
My man, you may have a valid point, but some of your examples are so ridiculous it casts you a lot of credibility. Charlo? Was fighting SWW up until late 2017, when GGG was already in his late 30s. Not a duck, different weight and age group. Kovalev- never fought a fight south of 175, G never fought a fight above 160 until very late in his career. Different weight classes.

Like I wrote, you may have a point, but your examples reek of bias.

GGG is financially set. He had a great career. Sometimes a fighter realizes when they've had enough. They don't necessarily have to fight a farewell fight.....just to please the fans. Why risk getting hurt or suffering a loss trying to find the motivation to please the public. He could be done.....and perfectly fine with being done.

Lack of accomplishments isn't really true though because Golovkin is a two time unified middle-weight champion with 12 wins in a official middle-weight title fights. I understand, Golovkin isn't the most accomplished Middle-weight with respect to Hopkins, Monzon, Hagler, Greb, and Robinson but it's still a good career. Golovkin accomplished a lot more than the vast majority of Middle-weights.

Furthermore, I personally I don't agree with his resume lacking a world class win. Jacobs and Derevyenchenko are world class wins in my opinion plus I think the controversial Alvarez match has to be looked at.

GGG is a legend, if he chose to retire I wouldn't blame him! The man has more money than he could know what to do with and he has nothing left to prove, in my opinion!

he retired just as he wanted to as well. GGG is clearly an introvert. He doesn't really care to look good or do promotions.

He took a last 8 figure payday and rode off into the sunset. he wants to be irrelevant. Look at his instagram. Nothing of his family or personal things he cares about. he wants privacy.

this is the best case scenerio for him.

compare him with Mayweather, still longing for the spotlight. attention whoring...... he will never live it down that he is no longer the centre of attention. it burns him up inside. getting beard transplant LMFAO

Triple G will always be one of the best ever, if he likes his privacy, thats good for him, these days everybody likes to bark with no bite- Triple G never had to do that- Class act all the way till the end, much respect for the big show!!!

Though he can box he Ko'd everyone in front of him including some very decent fighters like Martin Murray (who should have got the decision against Martinez in Buenos Aires). KO artists always garner major hype compared to pure boxers.

What brings out the hate though is that they hype did get out of hand. Jealousy is a real thing and fans of other fighters were mad that THEIR fighter wasn't getting the hype and exposure that Golovkin got.

But part of Golovkin's aura was the mystique of a KO artist from an obscure country. Something new. Same thing with Tzsyu senior. Now we see it a little bit with Matias at 140lbs.

Golovkin was good for the sport of boxing. As bad a state that boxing is in, we need all the stars we can get never mind what colour, nationality, style they have.
I agree Murray did beat Martinez on that rainy evening in Buenos Aires.

Very few run to the fire without a huge pay-check and those who do are what make boxing especially fun. Yarde > kovalev and Beterbiev and now maybe Bivol. Shaun Porter - literally fought everyone at 147 - Bud is right about his resume. Porter should make it into the HOF eventually. Sor Rungvisai who fought these 3 fights in a row - Chocolatito 1, Chocolatito 2, Juan Estrada - I haven't seen a run like that for decades.
Shall I add Nonito fighting Rigo at the time he did or even Canelo fighting Lara to some extent.
