Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Says Fury-Ngannou Will Open Doors To More Boxing Events In Saudi Arabia

Promoter Frank Warren believes the upcoming heavyweight bonanza between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou will only strengthen the ties between big time boxing and Saudi Arabia. Fury, the WBC heavyweight titlist, and Ngannou, the former UFC champion, are set to meet in the ring in a "crossover"

I'm a little confused about Warren's comments because Saudi Arabia have been in the boxing market for a number of year's. Grove's vs Smith happened there a number of year's back. Is this anything new? An authoritarian government bank rolling boxing events isn't exactly groundbreaking. Don king was doing it fifty years ago, so I feel Warren's comments are just trying cover up for the fact it's a disappointing fight.

Nobody wants any more of these ****ty circus shows especially with active fighters if they mean for normal fights that's bs they will make them regardless if big enough.

Its sad to see a guy like warren that has done so much for british boxing sell out like this trying to defend furys nonsense. Frank looks like hes about to have an heart attack in these interviews, his blood pressure must be sky high

Its all for a quick term gain too. Fury will ditch him soon enough. His dad seems to leak info that ends up happening further down the line. This week he was saying tyson has no need for frank warren....watch this space

"The bottom line is, the US State Department advises its citizens not to go to Saudi Arabia for many reasons – the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, human rights issues, they’ve got a long paragraph on torture, cruel and inhumane treatment, women’s rights and it talks about the risk of going to airports where *********s may attack – that’s all on their official website. His own government is telling him his life could be in danger," Warren told Thursday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on Talk Sport.

“Come on now, we all know what it’s all about. It’s purely about money, no more than that. You won’t be taking your wives or girlfriends because we know what the situation is there, there’s no drinking there, which I accept because it’s their religious beliefs, but it’s hardly the usual environment for a boxing match, or indeed many sporting events," Warren said.
this you Warren when you were talking about Joshua fighting there a couple of years ago?
