When was the last time ESPN did a boxing PPV that hit a million buys? Oh yeah, that would NEVER.
The entire point of co-promotion seems to have went over your angsty ass. Showtime was co-promoting with DAZN.

It’s all about bringing fanbases together. Ryan+DAZN+Showtime all factors in bigger numbers. Canelo can do his numbers wherever, because of his core fanbase being as large as it is. Wilder vs Fury went from 300k the first time on Showtime to double/triple that with ESPN.

Unfortunately you completely spazzed and missed the point.

"PBC are there own promoters" so you're right. Its on the fighters in this case. But this fight sells itself.

      700k-800k ppv buys
Idk if it does that honestly. Nobody is talking about it and people I've talked to don't really care for it

People make this mistake all the time. Just because your circle doesn't talk about something doesn't mean no one else does.

I doubt any of the people around you are talking about the music artist Peso Pluma. Yet he is one of the most-streamed artists in the world - both in the US and worldwide - on Spotify. Don't make this mistake of assuming everyone is like you and your peers.
What I was saying is true. People of today can't focus on one thing. There's too many things they're trying to focus on at the same time. The advent of social media and Youtube made it 10x worse. You can lie to yourself all you want, but try turning on your cable TV, or visit your neighbor if you don't have one. Take the remote and see if you can finish whatever you want to watch in one hour without touching any of the remote's key pad. And this was already happening many years ago. Like I said, boxing became even more niche. Espinoza himself admitted 30-40% is diminishing PPV buys because of piracy, which is part of the tech advances people have become accustomed to.

to your point... I 100% live among a group that does not care about soccer (you know.. football to the rest of the world). I hear that sport is doing just fine without us.

Boxing is popular. It is a "niche" sport, but that does not mean "small". The only problem boxing has is the useless organizations and different promotions all cutting each others throats to be top dawgs instead of pooling resources to maximize the fanbase it has.

I wish, but unfortunately, that's not true! Same as everyone hoping Fury vs. Ngannou will be a flop! It won't be!

Muhammad Ali began his career as a soft-spoken young man. Then, inspired by the pro wrestler Gorgeous George, Ali became loud and outrageous. People wanted to see him STFU, and paid well for something they rarely got to see.

                  The poster made two claims:

Boxing is not what it once was. This is indisputably true.

Boxing is now a niche sport. This is also evidently true.

You make a valid point that just because someone's peers do not talk about something does not mean no one else does and that it may say more about the social circle than the sport, but the numbers are clear about how boxing's popularity has faded with time.

Boxing was once a huge sport, with leading boxers as famous, or more famous, than other leading sportspeople. This is no longer the case. Boxing has been eclipsed by numerous other sports. While people argue whether Canelo or Tank is the face of boxing, your average person in the street -- who could happily name Lionel Messi or Tiger Woods or LeBron James -- would have no clue who they are.

u may have a good or great product but if people dont know it exists its not going to do so well

there seems to be this interaction between the african american & latino mexican type fanbases thats needs to be excited maybe

I kind of like it when they talk smack to each other, it makes for a more interesting show, whats wrong with getting into your opponents head? - it can still be done respectfully, as long as its only about the fight and not about there family ect..- I don't care who wins, there both great fighters, may the best man win, I just want to see a great fight and not a one sided event
