Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson Petitions WBO To Be Named Mandatory Challenger At Lightweight

Shakur Stevenson is doubling down on his bid to become a three-division titlist. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that a request has been filed with the WBO by the management team for Stevenson, who seeks to be named the sanctioning body's mandatory contender at lightweight. Similar measures were taken with the WBC, who has already confirmed Stevenson as next in line to challenge for its title and now hopes for the same with the WBO.

Next up (but don't hold your breath) should be WBA seeking clarification if Haney is remaining at 135 followed by a mandated title consolidation fight with Davis or, alternatively, declaring Davis full champion

Now, this is how you cut off the escape route from a runner. You are either going to fight me or give up what I came for.

I don't understand the point. Lomachenko was just mandatory.

Sad that boxing's come to this. Shakur's a good fighter, but he hasn't beaten anyone at 135 with a win against a top 15 opponent. Why not just clean up the division around Haney and earn it instead of petitioning sanctioning bodies to give you what you haven't earned? This "path of least resistance" nonsense is hurting the sport...

He already tried to get Cruz and Zepeda in the ring and they declined. If guys keep ducking him he should force a mandatory.

I would rather see Tank destroy Huggies first.
