Cruz looked really good. It was actually beautiful to watch him fight. It was nice to see him fighting on the inside like the pros. This guy has huge potential.

Just watched some highlights. Cruz looks polished. He showed the skills and the flash, but still came to fight. I’m impressed.

More fighters are doing that in general. Look at Inoue as well, he fought solid opponents fairly quickly. He was 20 when he debuted.

It’s a trend, not every new fighter is doing it yet. But it’s going to keep happening regardless of age. Little by little the internet is souring the build-up phase of a fighter. Nobody cares to see a fighter with 100 wins anymore because 100 wins means they fight too many tomato cans.

Yeah, I agree with what you said before: Eventually, 15-20-fight careers will be the norm. That’s fine, as long as the fights are quality.

'Lomachenko started a trend, made it popular to start fighting solid opponents right off the bat. The cons of this is we will see fighters less right away. The days of picking up 10 fights a year for a rookie are probably gone

I think Yuriarkis Gamboa & Guillermo Rigondeaux paved the way. The vast majority of fighters will still need a lot of fights as a pro after turning over, but, as Teddy Atlas always said, if you have excelled in the amateurs it makes no sense to go back to ground level as a pro. The boxer just gets bored & restless & loses motivation. Fighting a guy like Burgos straight up is pretty extreme, however, & it shows just how high they are on Cruz. Although not at such an extreme level they are moving Galal Yafai quite quick. I wish Ben Whittaker's people would take note because he is already losing motivation & picking up bad habits.

I would pay good money to see Cruz sparring Jaron!
