  • Comments Thread For: Eubank Jr. Insists Smith Rematch Set For September; Smith Denies Knowledge Of Such Plans

Chris Eubank Jr. is confident that plans are back in play for a Liam Smith rematch. The other side of that equation doesn't quite share the same viewpoint. An early morning tweet from Eubank suggested that he is set to run it back with Smith on September 2 at The O2 in London. The bout would headline a Sky Sports Pay-Per-View event.

Is this rematch even necessary? I would understand if happened down the line but an immediate rematch seems ridiculous. The fight just wasn't competitive or interesting enough for there to be a demand for a rematch.

I'm pretty sure Eubank won every round until he was KO'd, so I would say there is demand for a rematch.

Are you pretty sure or are you sure because there wasn't a lot of rounds.

I thought Eubank won two and Smith one but even if you think Eubank won three does that mean winning three rounds is enough to warrant a rematch? If Eubank had dropped Smith or even hurt maybe you would have a case but in reality Smith Stopped Eubank in four.

Personally, I don't see a demand that's why the fight is in limbo. I don't see many people clamoring for Eubank vs Smith 2 because the first fight didn't create interest for a rematch.

I would certainly watch a rematch for the sheer thrill of seeing Eubank put down again, but it’s nowhere near warranted.

I think eubank can't do 160 without his punch resistance being shot he is 33 he needs to be at 168 but thats too much for Smith who could possibly still make 154 if he needed to for a big fight. Its like we saw with josh Taylor recently who's the same age as Chris he needs to move up from 140

It appears Smith Wants to Coast away with that shock and awe victory without giving Eubank the deserved rematch. I get it. Tbh. But at least move on and stop playing with the fans. Not a fan of eubank but he clearly feels he needs the rematch to get his "ego" back.

There was a rematch clause that was activated. So yes. It is necessary, and not competitive? Smith looked on the way to a certain defeat before the stoppage.
