Maybe Canelo became past prime during his walk to the ring vs Bivol? Just as the "unbeatable" Mike Tyson did during his ring walk vs Douglas. Nash out

I been saying this for years now. It's not so much as Canelo turning pro at 15-16 but the jumping up in weight classes fighting naturally bigger framed men fight after fight. Canelo should've tried to hold reign 160 as long as possible. The damage is done now, Canelo is closer to 37 physically like Beterbiev's age..Still got it but u can visually see the reflexes fading and injuries kicking in..
Once u get older it's the injuries that take you down moreso than the age, just ask Ward, Bradley, Porter and rest of the guy's the retired in their early to midish 30s. Fighting bigger men leads to injuries, whether you beat them or not.Last edited by Realizniguhnit; 07-10-2023, 10:54 AM.

Some amateurs fighters have a long career and go into the Pros. Fighters peaks and declines are different from fighter to fighter. There is no saying if Canelo is on a steep decline, he fights at a higher weight, he has a lay off with a surgery.
It is tough to fight at a higher weight and then come down. Not too many fighters can do that effectively.

Sheesh. Canelo now fights only elite people. You expect him to never get tagged solidly by people like GGG or Plant? That’s ridiculous.
I’m extremely not a Canelo fanboy. I think one confirmed PED bust, and you should be banned for life. But giving credit where it’s due, the man is a phenomenal talent and has proven himself against other phenomenal talents. ODLH needs to reel that back in.MMegatron likes this.

If Canelo is an old 33, Vergil Ortiz is an ancient 25. Oscar needs to worry about his own stable, whatever is left.

Canelo is just a product of the sport needing a "great Mexican champion", and a "face of boxing" after Floyd retired. Canelo is a talented, strong fighter. He has an all timer chin. Apart from that, he is nowhere near an all time great. Floyd whipped him easily. He got gifts against a past his prime GGG in the first two fights. A couple close calls and questionable cards against other good fighters. Bivol straight up kicked his ass.
Not hating on the guy. He is talented. But the hype on him has been a media and tainted judge created joke for a long time. Canelo has never beat top tier talent convincingly, he beats mediocre fighters for belts, cherry picks, plays weight games, busted for drugs. It has all taken a toll. And yes he is fading. But the truth is, he was never nearly what he was hyped up as.
