If that was the case every opponent would be gone in the first 2 rounds, Ennis playing the hype game and keeping the fires burning, good stuff he will definitely get to the top I just hope the TC Spence level guys are there when it happens so we get great matchups.

I would like to see Matias defend the 140 pound title a few times, at least 5 defenses before moving up to the 147 pound weight division.
Then, and only then should he move up to fight at least 2 top 20 fighters in the 147 pound division, before tackling 1 of the top ten, or the champion.

You need to get past Ugas, Thurman, Ortiz & the looser of Spence/Crawford before getting a title shot.

Did Amir Khan or Kell Brook fight anyone relevant at WW to get a shot at Crawford?
He was emailed his belt when Loma chose the Franchise.
I dont recall who Spence fought tbh.

Yeah right. You've been telling them, yet you kept fighting non notable names and your first step up fight is Villa after 31 fights. You don't even have the Kavaliuskas, the Butaevs, Avanesyans, even the Josesito Lopezes, Brook, Khan, veteran names passing torches. Those names are supposed to appear in your resume in your 15th fight. Stanionis' 16th fight would have been Vergil Ortiz Jr. Five times more established than Villa. Huge difference.El_Mero likes this.

So Commey was the division’s gatekeeper?
Spence fought Leonard Bundu before fighting Brook. Would you say Bundu was the ex champ or gatekeeper of the division that Spence “had to fight” to get a shot at Brook?
This is my point to those hateful casuals ego keep hating on Boots by saying he needs to fight credible opponents before he can get a shot at Crawford or Spence.
Guys like Rashidi Ellis and now Roman Villa at one time were considered hot prospects. Their stock has been reduced to ashes and they will NEVER get a shot at Bud or Spence. If Boots was to get a shot at the two top guys and beat one of them, I can assure you the same casuals would be calling for Boots to fight Ellis or Villa were both undefeated.
Boots has fought pretty much everyone and is the hottest prospect since forever and there is no one else for Spence-Bud winner to face except him. Why should Boots fight hate keepers when neither Crawford nor Spence fought any gatekeeper or ex-champ?Miggsgbp likes this.

Matias needs to fight often, and repeatedly in order to keep his name relevant in this sport of boxing.
He has a title now you would think that he'd have fighters lining up to challenge him left, right, and center, but they apparently aren't.Last edited by Boricua181; 07-11-2023, 06:21 PM.Bronx2245 likes this.

Im not questioning Ennis being a top PROSPECT, but prospects fight a lot of cans. He needs to fight Stanionis, another top prospect, or ugas/thurman, then we'll see if his 31-0 record, vs a bunch of no names, is ready for the top dogs. And i say Stanionis and either ugas thurman because spence/crawf are going to fight 2 times. So Ennis can either wait a year to finally fight the winner of undisputed (which i doubt happens cause theyre more than likely going to move up) or keep sharp and test his mettle vs the other top prospect and 2 ex champs.
