Stanionis should somehow be compensated, imo.

Lol Dazn and GBP cant catch a break, i wasn't particularly interested in this event anyways if am being honest, UFC 290 is the reasom why. So IDGAF, Ortiz is done at 147.Comment

His body is fighting itself with the Rhabdo. He is fighting a losing battle. 154 might not be enough of a buffer to avoid another flare up. I hope he is ok though. He’s way too young to be dealing with these health issues.
Stanionis should somehow be compensated, imo.

ESPN article I read stated it was issues with making the weight. Whether it was Rhabdo, weight issues, feinting or a combination of all three it sounds like 147 is a thing of the past for Vergil.
Was really looking forward to this fight, a shame that it got cancelled. Feel especially gutted for Stanionis.Comment

It doesn't look like boxing is the sport he should try to excel at. With these kind of medical problems, he's gonna get cooked real bad some day. Sad to say, Ortiz is probably finished as a boxer. I'd hate to see him get battered by someone more healthy or more talented...for that matter even less talented. Save your brain for the next chapter of your life man.Comment

I guess it's too little time to have an opponent for Stanionis. Feel sorry for him not being able to box and fight. Time for him to look for other opponents...and soon.Comment

Vergil Ortiz Jr. has withdrawn from Saturday's welterweight fight against Eimantas Stanionis in San Antonio, Golden Boy Promotions announced Thursday.
"Nothing is more important than the safety of our fighters, and we of course support Vergil's decision 100%," Golden Boy Promotions said in a statement. "This unfortunate event does, however, open the door for one of Golden Boy's top prospects, Floyd Schofield, to accelerate his profile by headlining in his home state of Texas."
This is the third postponement for Ortiz-Stanionis. The fight featuring two of ESPN's top five welterweights was set for March 18 before Stanionis, 28, underwent an emergency appendectomy in January in Lithuania. A second postponement came when Ortiz, 25, dealt with a recurrence of rhabdomyolysis, pushing the fight from its April 29 date.
Ortiz (19-0, 19 KOs) told ESPN in May he was recovered from rhabdomyolysis after he was diagnosed with long COVID, but sources told ESPN he encountered trouble making weight for this fight.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, rhabdomyolysis occurs when damaged muscle tissue releases its proteins and electrolytes into the blood. These substances can damage the heart and kidneys and cause permanent disability or even death.
Ortiz, ESPN's No. 3 welterweight, scored a ninth-round TKO of Michael McKinson in August and hasn't competed since. He also owns wins over Maurice Hooker and Egidijus "Mean Machine" Kavaliauskas.
Stanionis (14-0, 5 KOs) is ESPN's No. 5 welterweight. Trained by Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, Stanionis is coming off a decision win over Radzhab Butaev in April 2022, a career-best victory.

Time to try 154, or retire! GBP is in bad shape, with KingRy in court, and Ortiz's health! Munguia is the last hope! I like William Zepeda, even though he SWERVED Shakur! I hope Floyd Schofield jumps ship ASAP!
