Sucks for Stanionis but their is better fights for him at Showtime. Hopefully he can get one before the year is through.

Seriously. Isn't Sr. currently his trainer? Seems like yet another father having a negative effect on his son's career. It wouldn't surprise me if this "undisclosed reason" is somehow connected to Jr. cutting too much weight or being overworked. Something NEEDS to change.

...told you guys, Ortiz is basically finished.

There's no logical reason for a guy his age to be having these physical ailments to this degree. His body is shutting down.

At this point, he can't use "long COVID" as an excuse.

I'm not that far from 50. In my 20's I ran track, played baseball, tennis, soccer and badminton, lifted weights (sometimes incorrectly), even moreso when I hit my 30's, and I've not come anywhere close to what this dude is dealing with. Even with a horrible diet.

This isn't about weight cut. His body is failing him, period.

I wonder if he's ever been checked for a heart condition.

Ortiz jr is probably also a PED cheat, just like Benn.

Damn, I was looking forward to serving the Crow buffet to all the Ortiz lovers this weekend. Probably lucky for him it didn't go down, because I already predicted Stanionis to KO him in 6, but in this condition, he probably would have done lasting damage.

Rhabdomyolysis is no joke I'm not sure if he will ever be the same and that sucks because he was talented but I feel his father ruined his career a bit. Lol at all the people comparing their own "physical" experiences comparing them to a world class athlete, everyone's body is different and Robert Garcia said himself that Vergil trains non-stop.

Bermane Stiverne was never the same after Rhabdomyolysis and neither was former UFC Heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos, both fighters went downhill after they were diagnosed and never returned to top form.

Perhaps this drives ODLH to self harm and El_Maldito_Rey to contemplate putting a pistol in his mouth

I'm so sorry to hear that, about Ortiz's health. I hope he gets well soon.

It's a pity this fight is off again, but a person's health and life is more important.

Believe me, there are strange and sudden illnesses that can affect any of us, that are chronic illnesses. Life throws nasty curveballs.

If you're suggesting that Vergil Ortiz somehow trains harder than guys like Floyd, Dwayne Johnson, or any bodybuilder ...you're a mark. None of them passed out two days out from fight night (or whatever event). And the Rock is in his 50's if I recall.

Bottom line: his body is failing him. He's young. There's no logical reason someone this young should have THREE body breakdowns like this. That's not overtraining, his body is failing him.
