Comments Thread For: Raymond Ford Hoping For Title Shot This Year

Raymond Ford knows that he had a bit of a slip-up earlier in his career. Considering his talent and pedigree, Ford (14-0-1, 7 KOs) was expected to run through Aaron Perez in 2021. Don't let the undefeated record of Perez fool you. Following his split decision draw against Ford, Perez lost his very next outing against a fighter with a record of just 3-2-3.

    1. Ford fights at featherweight. Not 130.
    2. He had an almost equally controversial fight against Edward Vasquez which many felt he lost, just two fights after the Perez draw.
    3. Nonetheless, he has impressed in his last 3 performances against his best 3 opponents. But I'm not sure who gives him a title shot at 126. Wood is either gonna defend against Kholmatov or warrington. Robeisy is fighting in Japan, and if he wins then surely top rank will make the In-house Lopez unification. And Vargas is with PBC coming off a loss to someone with a similar style to Ford, with PBC probably making the Figueroa unification next. Raymond is too high risk, low reward. Maybe in two years he'll fight for the title.

Wood will either face Warrington and the WBA might make Ford Vs Kholmotov for the interim or wood vacates and fights Warrington an ford Vs Kholmotov fight for the full belt. I think wood will fight Warrington without the title but it's about if Warrington wants to fight wood at city ground with no belt on the line which he probably won't want to do. That means wood will have to face Kholmotov at the city ground which could happen but it's not the opponent they'd probably want for the stadium fight because Warrington has the big football fan following aswell being from Leeds so it will sell better. Dont get me wrong wood will do good numbers there with Kholmotov even tho he's less of a name but I think they will be pushing for wood Vs Warrington it's just about what the WBA wanna do

Raymond is descent but also not ready yet, I see some things he’s lacking and he still becomes to aggressive and miss often at times. I think it’s a matter of having the right fights to develop opposed to time and rushing a date. Let the kid fix his flaws first!

He's a feather (126) not 130 like the article says, right?
