Canelo is washed up so Charlo is a live dog even though he’s moving up 2 weight class. Canelo wants the least risky fights so he can continue to take DAZN’s money. It will be very obvious how much Canelo has regressed when this fight happens. If the betting odds are good, say +280 of better for Charlo, take advantage because Canelo is only a shadow of his former self.

Two points here:
1. A good manager should never take side with his fighter's opponent. His client should always be in the right.
2. A good chunk of money changed hands, it seems. Tim doesn't seem to be too furious about the whole debackle and I am pretty sure he will get his shot down the road regardless. He yung and well set with Aussie money.Comment

Crazy that Jermall Charlo hasn't been stripped yet. There's an organization who doesn't care about its own rules. Canelo has at least faced two mandatories in addition to his voluntaries in the same time that Charlo faced nobody. Couldn't even take the big money fight. Middleweight is a wasteland because Jermall and Andrade were just waiting for Canelo and not fighting anyone or going for unification. GGG gets a lot of hate on here, but at least he unified.
We want champions to face the best competition. You can tell a fighter who wants the smoke and to be a real champion because they're taking on the best even when they're waiting for their shot. Not many of those. Can also tell who is worth talking about based on who they fight when they make champion.
Will be curious to see what fights Tszyu takes in the interim. Will he stay busy and fight a top guy? Will he sit out?Comment

That presupposes that Canelo will beat Charlo.Tszyu wants all those belts so the bottom line is he will wait another year if he has to for the Charlo fight. He could ask for the WBO to strip Charlo but if he does that, then Charlo doesn't have to fight him. And that means he loses his biggest payday and his chance to become undisputed like his father.
If I'm him, I would beg the WBO to just relax. Let Canelo do what he wants and when Charlo is done with Canelo, his next fight would be me. I'd also proposition the other organizations to make me the mandatory with a little coin, so there are no other options for anyone to fight for one of those belts that didn't include me. One way or another I'd get my undisputed fight over the next year.
Charlo wins he'll likely drop the 154 belts and do a Canelo rematch.Comment

Like most people on here, I can't blame Jermell for going for the big money and big stage against Canelo. And I think Mell believes he can win, given Canelo's current form. He might be right. And like you said, losing to Canelo is easier to swallow, but I don't think Mell believes Tszyu would beat him. I really don't believe Jermell is avoiding Tim so much as he is going for the best opportunity for himself.
Your response us the most accurate I've read in this post. What I don't understand is why take on a fighter 2 division's below when he tried to fight a fighter 2 divisions above, I don't think Canelo knows in what direction to follow and is making it up as he goes along. Benavidez has made no secret he would like the fight. I don't think Canelo's team think he can beat Benavidez as Canelo is on the slide.
Charlo should be fighting Tszyu again I think his team are wary of TSZYU and is surprised on his progress, Charlo's team know it's now a 50 50 fight and they don't want to risk it. Losing to Canelo rather than Tszyu is easier to swallow, that's why they've agreed to Canelo as Charlo has been ordered to fight Tszyu.
As to why Canelo chose to fight Jermell, I'd say 1) He's getting a boatload of $ because I'm sure they'll stage it at the Dallas Cowboys' A&T Stadium (the Charlo's are from Houston and Canelo set the US boxing attendance record there already against Billy Joe Saunders, so this should do even better). 2) He thinks he'll beat him due to his size/experience at the weight and experience at this size of event, and his skills of course. 3) It's better than jumping straight to a bout with Benavidez and missing out on the money he's making here if he loses. The Benavidez fight is riskier.
IF Jermell somehow wins (very difficult to do with the judges in Canelo's pocket - and Saul has a GREAT chin) this will be a huge blunder. Of course if that happens they'll definitely run it back. I could make a statement here about Canelo's team making sure they cycle him perfectly the second time around, but I won't. Oops. I just did.Comment

The problem is, he ain't taking any legacy fight. If he were to take one, let's say benavidez, and I think he has a better chance of beating him than Morrell Jr, he would get a pass for a couple of fights. He's the face of boxing, he have to take on all comers, not avoiding them. Let's go back to another p4p abd face of boxing, SRL, who did he fought? Hearns, Duran, Benitez, Hagler, and won.Comment
