Robinson went up heigh in weight with a world heavyweight. Napoles challenged Monzon from 147 to 160. Duran beat Leona s from 135 to 147. What is the problem with Canelo fighting Charlo?
None of the guys you mentioned jumped 2 weight classes to challenge for the title. Duran had several fights at 147 before challenging Leonard. Robinson moved up from 160 to challenge for the 175 belt...and earlier in his career fought at 147. He didn't jump from 147 to 175.

      THIS!

Not to mention, Duran and Napoles had already built HOF careers by the time they made those leaps. I could see this as being an acceptable fight if there were a bunch of guys out there in his weight class avoiding Canelo, but its not that way at all. He has MANY challengers who are established in his weight class trying to fight him.

A farce. A well paid farce, but a farce nonetheless.

This is all about the money - it will be a massive ppv success and Charlo wins even if he loses - he will be a ppv 'star' afterwards. But no way he is coming back to 154 - so may the stripping of belts process start sooner rather than later

And can the saudis or Mayweather or anyone introduce their new 'unbiased' belt org - starting with the real champ at 168

I see this as a competitive fight, but I don't see charlos chin holding up, eventually canelo will hurt him, his corner then will pull him out

Charlo is taking a big step for a big payday; it's prizefighting and big props to him.

Charlo is a big 154 and canelo a small 168, who could probably still make 160 if he wanted to do the cut, so the size differential will be minor on the night in the ring.

However imo a big factor will be that Canelo is now accustomed to taking shots off much bigger guys than Charlo.

Said it before and will say it again Clenelo will continue to do anything to duck Benavidez. His three fight PBC deal has both Charlo's and Spence jr on the list. That said this is going to be a great fight. Charlo is no push over and he knows what at stake

Charlo is selling his legacy for a payday. This fight will ruin him and his career.

Nah, his legacy is solid, by becoming Undisputed @ 154! There's no way he could've made this kind payday fighting anyone @ 154 or 160! This is well worth the risk! Salute to Jermell!
