Joshua for me needs to fight his way back to a title fight 'On Merritt'.

A win against Whyte and then Wilder should put him in that position.

But of course? The professional ranks don't really work like that.

Joshua vs Fury just like Wilder vs Joshua 'These match ups seem to exist outside of the rankings'.

People just want to see these fighters compete against each other etc.

Gate keepers, that’s right, I said it. Neither can crack the Fury or Wilder reign.

I'm pretty sure when Fury fought Whyte all 3 pf those guys were tied up in their own arrangements.

AJ was still fighting Usyk and Joyce was still fighting contenders.

Why would he drop his belt to fight to fight Joyce? That was not a better option.

He wouldn’t have had to. Many boxers have paid step-aside money to fight someone other than a mandatory.

Nah, Usyk was available but even you are right, how can anyone justify Whyte getting yet another shot aka money fight with AJ? Are there no better options for AJ?
Wilder is available and so is Zhang. Go after those guys NOT a perennial gatekeeper.

Usyk wasn't available in April 22. That was in between the Joshua fights so he was tied to the rematch.

Zhang isn't available - he's fighting Joyce. And they're negotiating with Wilder (allegedly).

Joshua doesn't have to fight anyone. He doesn't hold a title.

I actually think this is a bad choice by AJ. Whyte will sell the fight, but he'll also be dangerous and doesn't bring the same kind of credibility that he once did.

I'm not sure what they gain by this fight and there's a chance it could derail bigger fights.

AJ activated his rematch clause so Usyk had to fight AJ.

Wilder doesn't want to fight AJ and vice versa which is why they're both seeking tune ups.
Zhang is not available. Joyce activated his rematch clause.

The one person I'll continue to push is Wallin. The man is desperate for a decent fight so he would probably accept a **** deal just to prove himself after the Fury loss.
Decent fighter or potentially a great fighter if he had the chance to show it.
