That is the one thing that both him and Spence have in common. They both won their first world titles in Great Britain. EJ won his first title at 147 in Sheffield, England against Kell Brook by 11th round KO.
Maybe that's what he means, that it was his best performance in his opinion. Not necessarily his toughest opponent or fight.

Hmm. Not a lot of people satisfied with this response. But the thing is...Crawford is saying what I've said all along: his fight with Ricky Burns was his best performance. Because it really was.

The ref didn't allow him to get dirty (Khan low blow, Kavaliauskas hold-and-hit, etc.). He had no choice but to straight up box and show me something - and that night, he truly looked like an elite fighter. As a result of not being able to break rules, he was forced to go the distance, but he looked like a top fighter in doing so. No asterisk whatsoever.

I think he means it's more what it meant because it was his first world title had to go away to Scotland to get it. Just like Spence did against brook but Spence had hype around him and rightly so he was a beast where as bud didn't really before he won his first world title so that kinda took him to the next level

Beating a shot fighter should never be anyone's greatest fight. I understand it was where you became champion for the first time. But still.

Burns was a good world class fighter when at his best. But against Crawford he was a finished fighter. His last good fight was against Mitchell. Then he changed dramatically after that and looked horrible against Gonzales were he was lucky he quit later in the fight as he was running away with it. Then he lost to Beltran but got a gift decision.

burns? lol...no wonder you only hold one belt, I mean even you having that one belt it's actually impressive considering the quality of fighters you've fought so far
