Oscar is promoting his fighter by name dropping Benavides. The Berlanga fight is easier to make and winnable. David is just not an offensive fighter, he does has skills and Munguia would get murked in 4 rounds.

Maybe Oscar wants to cash out with Munguia, because he'd take a bad beating from Benavidez.

I'm glad to watch it, and they both will get major coins.
I'm a fan of Benavidez, but I give honest assessments. We all know Referee Kenny Bayless is as incompetent and corrupt as they come. But despite that fact, a better boxer would have stopped Plant. Plant was there for the taking, and Benavidez did not know how to go about getting him outta there.

After losing Canelo and Ryan, Oscar is desperate and now in hustling mode. PBC ain’t fighting garbage Munguia. Oscar must be sniffing, drinking, ********, and cross dressing again. Close shop bro. When Hearn calls you an idiot, that’s pretty bad coming from an idiot himself!

I disagree, especially after seeing him fight off the hugs, and the ref warning HIM instead of Plant. There was also the time, I believe in the 8th or 9th round where Benavidez had Caleb ready to drop, and Bayless completely stopped the action for NO REASON, and gave him time to recuperate.

David did what he was supposed to do, he completely broke down a fighter that was seen as the much better boxer, and if not for the ref, he would have put him to sleep.

David Benavidez Vs. Jaime Munguia Possible, Oscar De La Hoya Wants To Make It Next

Oscar De La Hoya said today on social media that he wants to make a fight between his fighter Jaime Munguia and WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez next.

De La Hoya says the former WBO junior middleweight champion Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) wants the match-up against the former two-time WBC 168-lb champion Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs).

Munguia taking this fight suggests that he’s given up on his hopes of getting fights against Canelo Alvarez & Gennadiy Golovkin by calling them out after beating B-level opposition.

Now, Munguia will try to earn the fight by knocking off the dangerous Benavidez. If Munguia can defeat Benavidez, Canelo won’t be able to ignore him.

While it may seem like a crazy fight for Munguia to make, given how he looked in his last fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko on June 10th, it’ll be a massive payday for him to take on Benavdiez because that would be a PPV clash that will bring in a lot of buys.

For Munguia, who has failed to get the big names, Canelo Alvarez, Jermall Charlo & Gennadiy Golovkin to face him, Benavidez is the next best thing.

Even if Munguia loses, the money will be good, the experience could help him, and his popularity could increase if he’s competitive.

This won’t make Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn overjoyed because he wants Munguia for his fighter Edgar Berlanga next, as the New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent called out Jaime repeatedly last Saturday night after his twelve round unanimous decision win over Jason Quigley at the Hula Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The way Hearn talked after the fight, he wasn’t going to accept no for an answer for his plans to put a fight together between his recently signed Berlanga and Munguia.

Benavidez-Munguia is a good fight for both guys. It works well for Benavidez because it allows him to get David Morrell Jr off his back, and that’s someone that he doesn’t want to fight.

For Munguia, it works because Benavidez is a huge name, and the upside in facing him would be far better than if he were to agree to a fight against Berlanga, who many boxing fans view as a hype job, a manufactured fighter’ created by his former promoters with ultra-soft match-making against stiffs dragged into the ring to make him look good.

The PPV money that Munguia can make fighting Benavidez will be excellent, and it puts the winner in the catbird seat to face Canelo Alvarez in May 2024.

The article basically backed up everything that I posted, its great for both as far as money, and although the Trash Collector Mungia will get the beats put on him, he at least gets a payday for losing his 0.

Benavidez showed flaws against Plant - he should've stopped Plant, but due to a lack of some skills he couldn't. This would be an excellent test for both fighters. The winner of this fight should be automatically in line to face the winner of Canelo VS Charlo.
                EXACTLY!!!

Benavidez gasses out just as Mungia does.. Mungia has a very strong chin! It will be a war that will sell very well, much better then Benavidez vs Plant..

the Berlanga fight will still be there for Mungia even if he losses, GBP is negotiating from a position of strength.

This would be a great action fight but a risky move by Munguia after the tough fight he just had with Derevyenchenko. Highly possible of a career changing fight for Munguia against Benavidez but then again, his options are limited.

It’s actually hilarious reading these comments. Mentally stunted anonymous posters that can’t rub two nickels together bashing and/or providing advice to multi millionaire boxers and promoters.

Would this be another DAZN/Showtime joint co nonsense again or what?

Why can't one fighter just be able to cross the street for just one fight?

Is Derevyanchenko so expendable by PBC he's the only one they allow to fight outside of PBC?
