All the best fights for Hopkins were at smw: Benn, Eubank, Toney, Jones etc. He had no reason to stay as a mw fighting the likes of Hakkar and Echols.

Didn't the talks stall with PW because PW said 165, was the highest he could go. The fight should never of got as far as the talking stage in the first place, a blown up ww vs a lhw. As for Trinidad, how exactly was he a legit mw, what elite fighters at mw did he beat? Joppy?

Joppy also said after that fight, that he had never felt such power before and in his next fight Trinidad got caught putting way to much tap and gauze on his hands.
Before moving up to middleweight, Trinidad was undefeated, at middleweight and above he was 3-3, im sure if he could he would of moved back down.

well if you followed the entire discussion, the point is he rotted in the 160 lb division in the 90's when he realistically could have moved up to a more natural weight for him @ 168 and fought several name fighters (including jones and toney) instead of who he was facing...

Hopkins had roughly 20 defenses against smaller men. Floyd fights 2 smaller men in 40 fights and he is picking on lil guys.

Mayweather-Mosley would be a significant fight but I could picture Floyd sitting out until Pac-Cotto ends and then go after the winner...if he can't get the winner he may fight Mosley...although Shane may have signed to fight someone else...

Floyd can wait six weeks to find out if he has hit the lottery (a Pac win)...or if he has to choose between Cotto and Mosley. FMJ is in a nice position. Whether he is gonna make 30 million...or just 15 million.
